Hashtag Gulu Initiative is a youth-focused and youth-led registered Indigenous nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting children and youths who live or work on the streets. Our work focuses on rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration.

We envision a community where individuals take collective responsibility for each other’s well-being, contributing to an inclusive and peaceful society. Hashtag Gulu Initiative provides alternatives to crime and violence by mentoring street-connected children and youths to become productive citizens. We collaborate with parents to address the root causes of the challenges faced by these individuals rather than relying on unsubstantiated assumptions.

 

Job Summary:  Hashtag Gulu Initiative is seeking a dedicated Project Assistant to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth planning, execution, and monitoring of our programs, contributing to meaningful change in our community.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   The Project Assistant will:

  • Support Project Officers in coordinating project activities.
  • Assist in planning, implementation, and monitoring project activities.
  • Prepare project documentation, including proposals, reports, and budgets.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, and field activities.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, local authorities, and other stakeholders to foster positive relationships and enhance project effectiveness.
  • Conduct beneficiary needs assessments and feedback sessions to inform program development.
  • Engage with street-connected children and youths to understand their needs and challenges.
  • Support in recruiting street-connected children and youths.
  • Assist the Project Officer in family tracing, mediation and reunion.
  • Serve as the focal point of contact for SCCY.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant data, and outcomes.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to the Project Officer.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2–3 years of relevant experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
