Young Farmers Champions Network is a network of young farmers champions working together as ambassadors and role models to shape the agriculture sector and inspire and attract fellow youth to engage in farming as a business. We promote positive images and ‘cool’ perceptions of farming to young people who do not usually consider a career path in agriculture by providing them with real-life examples. We seek to develop independent, reflective, and confident thinkers who can share their story and their personal experiences while stamping their ideological prints on the agricultural sector.
Job Summary: The Youth Agricultural Hub Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of YOFCHAN’s Youth Agricultural Hub. These will include overseeing the Youth Agricultural Parks (YAPs), Value addition facilities and the Youth Agri-Investment Fund in Nwoya district. The manager will be reporting directly to the Executive Director.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Youth Agribusiness Hub.
- Oversee the operations of the Youth Agri-Investment Fund, ensuring proper allocation, tracking disbursements, and maintaining comprehensive records of fund utilization.
- Oversee all agricultural activities within the Youth Agricultural Parks (YAPs), ensuring crops are well planted, grown, and harvested on schedule.
- Oversee the agricultural value addition services at the Youth Agribusiness Hub.
- Support trainings on entrepreneurship to beneficiaries of the Youth Agribusiness Hub
- Prepare accurate weekly reports for the Youth Agribusiness Hub.
- Ensure adherence to organizational regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in In Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or other advanced qualifications in these fields can be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience in agricultural management, agribusiness, or working with youth in the agricultural sector.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including the Youth Agri-Investment Fund and agricultural activities within Youth Agricultural Parks.
- Proven ability to oversee projects, manage teams, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams and overseeing day-to-day operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate and comprehensive reports.
- Adapt at identifying issues and implementing solutions effectively
