Maverick Next is a program of Maverick Collective by Population Services International (PSI), a community of women philanthropists making catalytic investments in health and reproductive rights to elevate women and girls everywhere.

 

The goal of Maverick NEXT is to ensure that men and boys in Uganda practice positive behavior supporting women and girls to enjoy their SRHR and it a design project.  Maverick Collective projects rely on catalytic seed investments to launch and pilot solutions that PSI could not usually undertake on its own.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute demand creation/social behavioral change strategy to drive informed demand for men & couples to enable health and balanced couple SRH communication. This shall include supportive supervision and capacity building for the peer mobilizers, men, couples, community influencers, local council leaders and monitoring the effectiveness of the different referral channels when need arises.
  • Conduct routine analysis of multi-level project efforts and in turn, create, execute, and document project learnings to inform adaptations, Data to Action plans to track the implementation of adaptations, and also lend yourself to supporting the development of knowledge products for dissemination.
  • Continuously monitor adherence to approved SOPs, protocols, and data quality procedures and protocols by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with supply chain including ordering, distribution and tracking of promotional products, and IEC materials to targeted communities/audience in the pilot areas and the project implementation districts at large.
  • Work with the quality assurance team to Integrate service delivery for men into some of the community-based services and reporting mechanisms whenever necessary.
  • Contribute to all Maverick Next planning, strategy development, performance review and learning meetings.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly work plans and accompanying budgets for the execution of all project activities in the implementation districts.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relations with PSI’s implementing partners and stakeholders at district level such as the district health management team, and relevant local partner organizations to support the implementation of activities.
  • Implement risk management activities to mitigate operational and financial risks within the districts of implementation.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Degree in Communications, Public Health, Nursing, Social Sciences.
  • Additional training in Project Planning and Management, Gender transformative approaches and Human centered design approaches is an added advantage
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working with rural communities, women and men.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and flexible work environment desirable.
  • Computer literate with understanding of Microsoft Suite and accompanying hybrid working tools like TEAMS.
  • Should also be fluent in Luganda and Lusoga.

 

Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills, organizational skills, with a problem- solving attitude and as a self-starter who works both independently and as a collaborative team player.
  • An ability to plan/schedule work activities independently, with minimum supervision.
  • Experience in community mobilization and engagement targeting young people, women, and men across multiple channels with relevant messaging.
  • Experience of budgeting and handling finances to deliver project activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with various partners including MoH, Local governments, CBOs, and other NGOs.
  • Strong understanding of health services standards particularly through a health promotion Lense
  • Good report writing and presentation skills coupled with good knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Possession of a valid national driving permit with demonstrated ability to drive is an added advantage.
