About US:

Yako Bank (U) Limited was incorporated in the Republic of Uganda in 2010 and licensed as a Credit Institution by Bank of Uganda in 2020. In September 2015, Yako got its license to operate as a deposit taking institution and started operations under the name Yako Microfinance (U) Limited. It upgraded to a Credit Institution in 2020 and was licensed to operate as Yako Bank (U) Limited. Yako Bank is owned by different shareholders and has been licensed by Bank of Uganda to provide savings and lending products to different clients.

 

Job Summary:   The Banking Officer (Customer Service) is the first point of contact for Yako bank customers. The primary role of a Customer Service Officer within the team is to respond to a variety of customer requests and inquiries via the telephone or in person over the counter; these include enquiries about banking products and services such as loans, savings, money transfers and insurance.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial perspective:

  • Ensuring customer relationship management by being first point of contact in the Bank
  • Crossing selling and creating brand visibility for Yako bank
  • Data capture in system to support financial record preparation
  • Maintain all books of accounts and record register at branch.
  • Contribute to bank business growth by cross selling Bank product.
  • Responsible for all system work (posting and generating reports)
  • Contributing to growth of non-interest income for the bank.
  • Money Transfers; money Gram, western union and world remit.

Operations perspective:

  • Compiling and preserving account opening forms
  • Data clean up
  • Ensuring completion and data capture in system of KYC and key facts documentation for all account holder in the Bank
  • Creating time deposits and maintain registers
  • Cheque book, ATM issuing to customer
  • Log book verification with URS
  • Search report for new company accounts

Customer’s perspective

  • Receive and respond to customer service account inquiries on account balances.
  • Issuing transaction details, statements and fees and charges
  • Welcome visitors in a warm and friendly manner, and answer any questions visitors have
  • Maintain reception area and all common areas in a clean and tidy manner at all times
  • Refer customers to appropriate banking services and representative
  • Maintaining complaint register and responding to customer concerns in a timely manner
  • In charge of info@yakobank.com and other official outward communication.

  • Supporting customer visitation
  • Training and inducting new staff





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the Banking Officer job should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience. Required.
  • At least two (2) years of direct customer experience required.
  • Prior management experience required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft products.
