Job Summary: The Market & Credit Risk Manager will be tasked with controlling the size of market risk exposures that dealers are allowed to take to be sustainably profitable while limiting the potential loss that can be incurred under varying market volatilities. Holding the Credit and Business units accountable for implementation of credit risk management policies. Application of excellent analytical and presentation skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Market Risk
- Develop and continuously maintain risk management principles for identifying, measuring, monitoring, controlling and reporting market risks.
- Promote and assist with the implementation of the Market Risk Policy in the Bank.
- Prepare a monthly market risk report for ALCO and provide ALCO with practical recommendations for the improvement of market risk management.
- Prepare periodic risk reports for the Board and Line Management, and Group Market Risk Management
- Develop a framework for the production of daily market risk dashboard to Line Management and Group Market Risk Management.
- Monitor the set limits for dealers, products and obligors.
- Monitor and report liquidity risk and trading credit risk positions.
- Provide a first line review of all limit requests, liquidity funding and contingency plans.
- Develop stress testing scenarios and perform stress testing procedures in line with ICAAP guidelines.
- Ensure that Traders and Operations are properly applying all policies and procedures with respect to market risk.
- Immediately advise Line Management and, if material, the Group Market Risk Manager should any of those policies and procedures not be observed and recommend a reduction or curtailment of business activity until they have been restored.
- Ensure that the usage of risk limits reflects current or expected market conditions and recommend amendments where necessary.
- Work with Internal Control and Treasury on the establishment and maintenance of a rate reasonability guideline
- Attend to other tasks assigned by line manager/ Cluster Risk Managers and Group Market Risk Management
- Review Treasury RCSA
Credit Risk
- Develop and continuously maintain risk management principles for identifying, measuring, monitoring, controlling and reporting credit risk.
- Promote and assist with the implementation of the Credit Risk policies in the Bank.
- Monitor Credit KRIs as per the Risk Appetite Framework
- Check and challenge the implementation of Credit policies through regular reviews of Credit processes e.g. post disbursement reviews, ODs in excess of limits, covenant tracking, etc.
- Conduct Credit risk stress testing
- Review Credit RCSA
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum Education: Tertiary degree with a bias towards Mathematics e.g., Economics, Finance, Engineering
- Desirable: Risk certification in Credit and/ Market risk; and/ or ACI dealing certificate
- Personal attributes: Adaptable and flexible
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships within Treasury Front and Back Office, Finance and Credit
- Attention to detail
- A proven ability to deliver under pressure
