The Ugandan Water Project (UWP), through its exclusive implementing organization, Red Rhino Development (RRD), implements and advocates for safe and sustainably managed water, sanitation, and hygiene resources across Uganda, deploying the best available version of each resource and working collaboratively with local stakeholders to ensure they last. UWP is an international non-governmental organization based in Rochester, USA, founded in 2008. RRD is a Ugandan company limited by guarantee, registered in 2015. The UWP/RRD Ugandan office is located in Yesu Amala, Nansana, Wakiso District.

 

Job Summary:  We are seeking a motivated and organized Assistant Program Officer to join our dynamic program management team. The Assistant Program Officer will work closely with the Program Officer to support the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of AquaTrust program. This role requires strong administrative and coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. The Assistant Program Officer will contribute to the overall success of the program by providing assistance in program planning, data analysis, reporting, and communication. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in program planning and coordination of activities, including developing work plans, aim plans and budgets.
  • Conduct pre-site assessments/surveys, ensure accurate capture of information on mWater platform, clean, collate and process data for final use in allocation of services and resources.
  • Support the coordination of meetings, workshops, and events related to AquaTrust program at district, sub-county and community levels to ensure the organization visibility overall.
  • Maintain effective communication with program stakeholders, including partners, communities, and internal team members through AquaTrust social media and SMS platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation of AquaTrust program activities.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and requests related to payment arrangements.
  • Help in the development of program materials, including presentations, reports, and training materials for district, WSC (Water User Committee) and local community.
  • Assist in development and implementation of marketing initiatives geared towards creating awareness of the program.
  • Support, and monitor AquaTrust team members in ensuring key program activities are implemented effectively on a timely manner.
  • Monitor payment compliance by conducting regular follow up calls and visits, identify any discrepancies or non-compliant communities and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Assist in leads generation, community engagements and capturing success stories.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating program activities to ensure adherence to goals, objectives, and performance targets.
  • Assist with budget tracking and expense reconciliation.
  • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor in line with the above.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public administration, business administration and other related field.
  • At least two years of experience in project coordination and implementation.
  • Ability to relocate to Luwero district and speaking local language (Luganda) is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite, mWater data management software.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of program management, monitoring and evaluation methodologies is a plus.
  • Passion for and commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Familiarity with the Uganda’s multi-cultural contexts.
  • Ability to work in stressful conditions, with limited access to services.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly results oriented work culture.
  • Knowledge, skill and experience in participatory methods for community development and mobilization.
