About US:

The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and National Guidance (MOICT&NG). The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social and economic development of Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  The IT Policies & Standards Officer will develop, implement, enforce, and monitor adherence to IT Standards, Policies, and Frameworks and provide support for quality IT services.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Study and review current national IT implementations and work with relevant stakeholders to identify required areas for standardization and policy development;
  • To develop, implement, maintain, and enforce framework, model, process, and tools for the development of National IT Standards, Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines for all IT service delivery domains in collaboration with key stakeholders;
  • Provide technical support on all issues relating to I.T standardization to both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Promote I.T standardization for both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all relevant proceedings, decisions, and actions related to I.T standardization;
  • Operate and maintain an updated IT Standards Database;
  • Promote I.T standardization for special interest groups;
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned from time to time relating to I.T. standardization.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent qualifications;
  • Professional/ Industry IT Certification such as ITIL, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, OCA, etc;
  • At least three years of experience in Standards and Policy Development and implementation in a reputable Public or Private Organization;
  • Standards Development and implementation
  • Documentation and report writing
  • Has sufficient communication skills for effective dialogue with others.
  • Demonstrates an organized approach to work.
  • Uses basic systems and tools, applications, and processes.
  • Contributes to identifying own development opportunities.
  • Follows code of conduct, ethics, and organizational standards. Is aware of health and safety issues.
  • Understands and applies basic personal security practice
  • Works under supervision. Uses little discretion. Is expected to seek guidance in unexpected situations.
  • Substantial influence. interact with immediate colleagues and other stakeholders;
  • Performs routine activities in a structured environment. Requires assistance in resolving unexpected problems
