Job Summary:  The IT Support Officer will provide delivery and technical support to Opportunity’s employees in Africa. The role will also provide technical assistance for end-user devices and associated resources with an emphasis on customer service functions. These include desktop computers/operating systems, mobile devices, hardware repairs, and audio/video equipment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, operating systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Engage with staff through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnose, and solve hardware or software faults.
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with possible password issues.
  • Assess the need for computer or software training in the organization. Training needs may include support for new hires, for employees in new roles or with new assignments, and for organization-wide training on new software, programs, or information technology system changes or policies.
  • Develop training courses and materials to be used in workshops, groups, and one-on-one training sessions.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, and short- and long-range IT planning, with an emphasis on advocating for the needs of the area(s) supported; implement tracking and evaluation programs to assist in the accomplishment of established goals.
  • Prioritize and manage open support cases through the provided ticketing system.
  • Foster strong partnerships with local and global vendors to drive growth and success.
  • Collaborates closely with project teams to fulfill support and equipment requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study
  • At least three years of experience in the IT Information Support Services and Network Services fields or in a related area.
  • Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with employees to establish the problem and determine and explain the solution
  • Ability to work with a remote team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft platforms, i.e. Windows Server 2012+, Office 365 administration, Azure, AD.
  • Knowledge of Cisco environment, VoIP, VMWare, Box administration, Backup Exec.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize the workload and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to retain how software and operating systems work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, systematic, and organized work style.
  • Experience managing technology vendors and purchasing relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse employees.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and core values of Opportunity International
  • Language Skills: Written and verbal fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is desirable. Applicants must be able to attend and fully participate in meetings conducted in English.
