Job Summary: DHL Global Forwarding Uganda has an opening for a Head of Airfreight where you will define, implements, and execute AFR strategy in country through managing, controlling and developing the Air Freight import business and operational activities in accordance with the group business strategy and local environment. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will Define and implement Airfreight strategy, product portfolio and processes in accordance with corporate and regional strategy with the objective of achieving maximum profitability and best effective use of business assets and human resources.
- You will gather and prioritise AFR product vision at the country level, and working closely with air freight operators, marketing, and sales to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.
- You will establish strong communication channels with the various Airlines and associated companies, as well as with the DHL International network Interface and working closely with other Countries Air Freight stations and supporting the department to rectify all shipments & operations issues.
- You will oversee the implementation of key airfreight initiatives across the Branch and provide quality and compliance guidance within the Team.
- You will be responsible for Air freight project handling, which includes assessing potential of the projects assigned, proposed infrastructure developments and business plans.
- You will drive commercial focus and operations for the product, drive customer relationship for key sponsored accounts and support in Claims handling.
- You will optimize business assets and human resources and drive operational excellence through KPI’s.
- You will be the single point contact for AFR Compliance/Quality issues.
- You will charter Operations Import / Export and export Consolidations.
- You will support key carrier and AFR customer contract at regional and local levels.
- You will develop a high-performance service culture within the functional department.

- You will develop KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply chain management, Business Management, Marketing, Customer Relationship Management, Business Administration or any related filed.
- At least five years of experience working in AFR Export Logistics Industry.
- Excellent knowledge of the Air freight and Forwarding Industry.
