Exim Bank (Uganda) (EBU), commonly known as Exim Bank, is a commercial bank in Uganda. It is one of the commercial banks licensed by the Bank of Uganda (BOU), the central bank and national banking regulator.

 

Job Summary:  The IT Support Officer provides technical support for core banking and alternative systems ensuring timely resolution of service desk tickets in addition, to running the daily end of day system processing.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Run daily EOD process and ensure system is ready for next days transactions
  • Execute, review and verify daily backups for Core Banking and peripheral applications databases.
  • Ensure backups are transferred to DR site and replication is at Sync.
  • Perform user rights assignment and management
  • Configure, install and manage the applications and databases.
  • Provide first level and second level support for all applications and databases.
  • Drive and manage the IT service desk ensuring that all reported service requests from branches and customers are resolved within the stipulated SLAs.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors in delivering new solutions and change requests while ensuring that the business objectives are met.
  • Support SITs and UAT activities for all change requests.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures documents for all IT processes
  • Proactively communicate to business and stakeholders on any service failures and expected resolution times
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or Business Computing.
  • At least three years of IT, Banking or related Experience.
  • Good understanding of bank policies & procedures
  • Critical thinking and analysis
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Self-driven
  • Problem solving skills & ability to innovate.
  • Team Player
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good customer service
  • Ability to observe expected turn-around times.
  • Sound Knowledge of Digital Banking Products will be added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience on IT Applications, Core Banking Support, Infrastructure and IT Operations.
  • Highly analytical in problem solving with the ability to apply original and innovative thinking.
