Employees play a key role in increasing the output of the organisation as well as its productivity that enables the organisation to accomplish its goals and achieve outcomes. However, staff or employees in respective of their roles often receive little or no formal training in Basic workplace skills, and may struggle in knowing the required skills needed to implement at the workplace while executing their duties and job roles. Job experience may play an important role in enabling them gain basic workplace skill sets, however, this is not enough to efficiently and effectively carry out their roles.

The HI Uganda Program, would like to improve the productivity of its Support Services department through equipping them with time management skills, interpersonal skills & team work and Coaching & Mentoring skills.

  1. Purpose of the Consultancy.

The purpose of the consultancy is to train the HI Uganda Support Services department staff the basic work place skills as defined: -Time Management Skills, Interpersonal & Team work Skills, Coaching & Mentoring.

  1. Key tasks and expectations.
  2. Define the key skills concepts (Time Management, Interpersonal & Team work skills, Coaching & Mentoring Skills)
  3. Assess staff’s levels/abilities in the different defined skills.
  4. Explain how to develop/improve the above skills with clear reference examples related to their scope of work
  5. Define the importance of these skills in achieving organizational goals.
  6. Give recommendations to HI management on how to support & enhance the defined skills.
  7. Report

A preliminary report is to be submitted for review and a final draft report incorporating all comments. A hard and soft copy of the final report are to be submitted to HI

The report will be in English and consist of the following :

  1. Introduction
  2. Findings and recommendations
  3. Annexes of materials developed

 

The final training report should be completed by 31st July 2023.

  1. Duration of the Assignment.

Based on the proposed assignment time line, the consultant shall provide a comprehensive training schedule. The allocation of the training days will be agreed up on the basis of the agreed training plan and shall include the following : –

  • Teaching methods:

Active teaching methods will be used including role-plays, demonstrations, games, questioning, etc. in combination with presentations and written exercises.

  • Learning materials:

Handouts will be provided to the trainees as well as materials needed for learning activities.

  • Workshop assessment methods:

Trainees will be asked to evaluate the training by filling a questionnaire before and after the training.

  • The work plan should also provide a clear schedule including execution: time necessary to achieve the training objective and how the consultant intends to approach the activities listed above to the service’s completion

The plan should also indicate the level of completion of the service, including criteria and indicators for checking that it is proceeding as planned

  1. Profile for the consultant or consultancy firm:

The consultant or firm should have the following expertise:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ Experience in adult education;
  • At least 5 years proven experience in conducting similar training for non­governmental organization employees;
  • Excellent proficiency in English, oral and written;
  • Good facilitation skill and able to accommodate different view of participants, understanding and experience.

  1. Technical Capacity Evaluation)
  2. Profile and experience of the company:
  3. The firm should have proven expertise and experience in undertaking the service delivery. Attach three reference letters
  4. Provide list of assignments undertaken similar scope of work within the last 2 years along with names of clients (including contact person, email contacts, Postal address and telephone numbers – this must include the three referees provided above)
  5. Professional/technical capacity/ capability
  6. The proposed staff should have relevant experience and professional qualifications in the relevant field
  7. Financial Evaluation

At the Financial stage, the Lowest Competitive Evaluated bidder and within budget estimates will be considered for the award of the contract.

 

How to Apply:

The potential service providers are expected to submit an application based on these Terms of Reference. The application will be evaluated against the following criteria:

  • Relevance, efficiency and effectiveness of proposed methodology and technical approach;
  • Organizational and technical capacity of the applicant;
  • Relevant experience in similar type of trainings; and

 

The application should include:

  1. One page cover letter; addressing the training criteria.
  2. Technical Proposal: 05 page Maximum
  3. Presentation and profile of the applicant including technical references;
  4. Brief explanation of previous experience in this kind of work;
  5. Methodological note with a proposition regarding: the organization of the training including training notes
  6. Tentative work plan with timeframes and deadlines for deliverables.
  7. Structure of the training team (where applicable) including qualifications and experience.
  8. Financial Proposal: The Financial proposal should contain the cost estimates for services rendered including daily consultancy fees (transport, living costs needed for training etc).
