Job Summary: The Branch Manager  will be responsible for supervising and managing any UGAFODE branch by: Overseeing growth of branch revenue through the developing and execution of the branch business plan in line with the local market opportunities targeted toward mining identified ecosystems and containing costs, training of staff and maintaining acceptable service standards in compliance with regulatory and other UGAFODE policies and procedures. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Branch business and profitability growth: Lead all effort at Branch level to grow both Assets and liabilities through enhancing sales, keeping up to date with changes and developments in the branch’s local market, preparation of branch business development plan, as well as service standards so as to efficiently acquire, manage and retain customers. Ensure stewardship in the management of financial resources of the branch with the objective for profitable and sustainable operations.
  • Embed Portfolio quality management: Overseeing approvals of loans that are below 5M threshold in line with Branch/Head Office credit committee as well as managing the loan administration, monitoring and recovery processes at branch level in compliance with set loan standards of the institution and Chair. Responsible for chairing the Branch Credit Recovery Committee(BCRC).
  • Embedding service: Drives a customer centric culture at the branch focusing on providing a high quality customer experience through: Creation of warm & welcoming environment, building strong network of relationships, monitoring service provider service level agreements for all branch works and treatment of all customers fairly in accordance with the financial consumer protection guidelines.
  • Risk & controls management: Maintains a culture that emphasizes the importance of a sound risk and control environment by ensuring adherence to Credit policies and procedures at all times at the branch (i.e. in operations, cash management, and customer service) and implementing measures aimed at guaranteeing an effective and efficient branch.
  • Management of Vault: Together with Branch Operations Supervisor and in the exercise of dual control standards, takes charge of vault in terms of cash in and cash out, balancing vault, over all cash custody in compliance to internal control processes and procedures of UGAFODE (MDI).
  • Reporting: Undertakes day- to- day reporting on all branch administrative and business growth aspects to the respective stakeholders. Reports on sales growth, customer service, client relationship management, product performance, teller incidents (Shortages & overages), non-compliances to internal processes, staff adherence to attendances, KYC AML among others.
  • Chair of Branch Credit Committee: Responsible for appraising branch loans (Credit committee) that are below 5M and escalating those above 5M to Regional and Head Office credit committees in accordance with UGAFODE credit policies and procedures.
  • Branch Budget Management: Participates in budgeting for the branch in terms of operations, customer service, employees, administration and sales. Also monitors branch budget through enhancing budget efficiencies by way of budget adherence and cost containment practices at respective branch.
  • Team supervision: Takes full responsibility for guiding of all direct reports, focusing on all aspects of sound people management e.g. Coaching, On-the-job training, Development, Performance Management, compliance to set standards and Employee engagement.
  • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Activities: Take full responsibility for all CRB activities at the branch.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, business administration, or finance / any related course.
  • At least four years’ experience as a Branch Supervisor preferably in a Banking environment.
  • Possesses strong analytical / planning skills and organizing ability.
  • Excellent business acumen.
  • Multi-tasking abilities including; Participative influential leadership, negotiation & customer service.
  • Knowledge of the full MS Office suite
