About US:

The Ministry of Education and Sports with assistance from the Ministry of Information Communication Technology and National Guidance is in very advanced stages of redeveloping the Education Management Information System (EMIS). These efforts are aimed at realizing EMIS as a web-based one-stop center for all data and management information for the education and sports sector. The EMIS has been redesigned to be disaggregated to all local governments and education institutions at all levels within the country.

 

Job Summary:  The EMIS Assistants/EMIS Support Officer will provide technical oversight during training, deployment, utilization, and maintenance of EMIS to the Local Government Education district officials Heads of Education institutions, MoES Headquarters, and its affiliates.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities and duties of the EMIS Assistants/EMIS Support Officer are:

  • Train stakeholders (EMIS users and data suppliers) on utilization and management of EMIS
  • Provide technical support to education institutions and District Education Officers/ District Inspectors of schools during the capture/ upload of EMIS data on school and DEMIS portals respectively.
  • Undertake regular validation of data uploaded by Education institutions.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reports on EMIS utilization and management.
  • Monitor EMIS data upload activities by education institutions to ensure all institutions are submitting accurate data on time in line with EMIS calendar
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or Information Technology, Quantitative Economics, demography, population studies, or Social Science.
  • Experience in collection of data and management of data from education institutions
  • Demonstrated basic data entry skills
  • Understanding and ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Possession of driving or motorcycle license is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to be productive without supervision.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Possess a strong and active interest in IT generally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
