About US:

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of Health.

 

Job Summary:  The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire suitable candidates as RESEARCH ASSISTANTS on the Strengthening  the Blood  Pressure  Care and Treatment cascade for Ugandans living with HIV-Implementation Strategies to Save lives (PULESA-Uganda).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To obtain informed consent from research participants
  • To participate in the recruitment of study participants and administer survey questionnaires
  • To ensure accurate and proper completion of all study logs, questionnaires, and consent forms and to maintain confidentiality of records and research findings as appropriate
  • To participate in the abstraction of study data from relevant HMIS tools
  • To ensure Study generated data is captured in the relevant HMIS tools at the health facilities and utilised to improve facility performance.
  • To conduct data verification, quality control and ensure data synchronization between the study database and health facility HMIS tools.
  • To participate in the planning, preparation and presentation of study results at study team, health facility and stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in statistics, business statistics, Information technology, information systems or a related field from a recognized University.
  • Good knowledge of GCP & HSP with valid certificates
  • Previous experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative data assessments
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the national HIV/AIDS programs
  • Postgraduate training in Program Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage
  • Knowledgeable on MoH and National frameworks; experience with UGEMR, DHIS2.
  • Proficiency in data management packages; Excel, REDCap, and STATA
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in both English and Luganda
