Hi is currently searching for someone to fill a Project Management position role under the SRHR project as detailed below:

 

Position: 1Project Manager

Reports to: Regional Program Director 

Team Management: 9(Multi-country SPM, 1 Technical Manager (managing 1 SBCC Speciliast,1 SBCC & Capacity-building Specialist, 1 SRH Specialist), 1 Finance Manager, 1 Communication Specialist, 1 MEAL Manager (managing 1 MEAL Officer)

Location: Kampala

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Provides guidance and technical support to projects in accordance with the overall technical frameworks and standards within its sectoral perimeter

  • Provides appropriate technical guidance and support to WISH technical and project/country teams and ensure ongoing learning and capacity strengthening within the teams
  • Ensures that the project(s) activities are implemented according to internal quality and technical standards and proposes adjustments or improvements if necessary.
  • Adapts project documentation as required in accordance with global technical norms and standards, review and ensure good quality of technical documents and tools
  • Contributes to the regular reporting of the technical activities of its perimeter (collection and analysis of the technical data collected) in conjunction with the project team and the MEAL team.
  • If relevant, ensures coordination and collaboration with the technical partners of the project as delegated by the specialist or the project leader.

Provides technical learning from projects

  • Ensures that the activities implemented comply with international technical norms and standards
  • Adapts the project documentation to international technical norms and standards, when necessary
  • Makes sure global and field technical specialists get the information they require, by establishing and reinforcing common understanding across country teams on technical standards, approaches and tools; and monitor implementation of activities across the different countries to ensure compliance with these and achievement of project milestones and expected outcomes
  • Collects the elements necessary for capitalization or scientific documentation exercises
  • Contributes to technical learning under the responsibility of the specialist or project manager, based on good practice
  • Responsible of technical learning from projects by drawing on lessons learned and good practices;
  • Provide technical support to WISH technical and project/country teams and ensure ongoing learning and capacity strengthening within the teams
  • Design, coordinate and supervise the development of face-to-face and online training programmes and training material for SRHR stakeholders and partners in remote technical assistance countries
  • In collaboration with consortium partners, design, coordinate and conduct webinars and learning events at the global and regional levels, focusing on disability inclusion in SRHR
  • Is in charge of the technical quality and relevance of project activities implemented
  • Supervise data collection for research activities
  • Contributes to the terms of reference for evaluations
  • Implements recommendations for improving the technical quality of projects
  • Ensure the technical quality and relevance of project activities implemented within his scope of expertise conduct self-evaluation of his/ her project and participates to evaluation cycles under the supervision of the PM

Contributes to the animation of its trade sector (the Technical WISH team)

  • Contributes or lead to recruitment of technical co-workers and Line manage and supervise the WISH coordination technical team, comprised of the SBCC Specialist, SRHR Specialist and Capacity Development Specialist)
  • Contributes to or leads the necessary technical training in his or her field
  • Contributes to the skills upgrading plan for professionals in their sector and may be a third-party assessor
  • Helps to coordinate technical professional development and facilitate a community of practice, in collaboration with Technical Division. Runs technical training for his/her staff when relevant
  • Contributes to design and collect operational data to ensure adequate follow up of the activities or adhoc data collection activities, and ensure appropriate measurment of project achievement in his/her area of expertise.
  • Ensure that data process is set and realised in compliance with the rules and principle set by the IM/MEAL and by technical guidance of the sector of his expertise
  • Promotes research in the field of SRHR and disability inclusion and contribute to quality management and HI WISH learning process
  • Attend regular technical exchange meetings with the consortium prime and other partners, to provide updates on activities, discuss challenges face and …
  • Ensure regular information exchange with the WISH Chief of Party, the in-country regional and HQ technical and operational teams as required.

Contributes to ensuring HI’s technical influence within its perimeter

  • Contributes to the influence of HI’s expertise: can represent HI’s technical expertise in relevant local networks and with local partners
  • Liaise with donors, partners, host government agencies, and other key stakeholders as required, and contribute to the visibility and advocacy efforts of HI and the WISH programme at the national, regional and global levels
  • Contributes to HI’s external influence by participating in relevant networks : resent the HI and the WISH programme in the sharing of data, research, lessons learned and technical documents at international events and conferences
  • Relays and contributes to advocacy messages under her/his scope
  • Drafts new project contents for the continuity or expansion of the project under his her technical scope
  • Contributes to the drafting of new proposals for new opportunities under his / her technical scope
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with the Ministries of Health and key SRHR stakeholders in the different countries, by sharing information on the project activities, lessons learned and best practices.

Other missions:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information of all partners and project participants at all times
  • Lead on the promotion of gender, age, disability and diversity principles in the daily management and collaboration with technical and operational teams, as well as through the planning and implementation of project activities and strategies
  • Perform other tasks as requested by your supervisor

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in the fields of Public Health or any other related fields.
  • At least 8 years of demonstrated required work experience 5 at which must be at senior Project Management roles related to Sexual Reproductive Health Rights at vulnerable populations.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in project cycle management.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in Humanitarian Response related field work.

 

Personal Skills & Technical Competencies required

  • Strong interest in the fields related to HI mandate. Special ease at collaborative work, participatory approach. Excellent team worker; ability to create dynamic and very positive working relations including at distance, with high level of mutual confidence and solidarity
  • Positive and constructive personality, very composed, solution-oriented and with a high level of professional maturity, excellent management and capacity-building skills,
  • Advanced writing capacities in English, master professional English and French at a very good level
  • Proficient in Disability Inclusion and Rights approach
  • Demonstrated ability to designing and implementing (remote) technical support and capacity building programs or activities and tools
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential

 

Condition:

Starting Date: 1st November 2022 Length of contract: Until March 2024.

Gross Salary range: Ugx. 6,633,631 to Ugx.7,441,565 dependent on years of experience
