Job Title:  Research Assistants (Several Fresher Data Collection Job Opportunities)

About US:

Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health (MakSPH) in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH), under the USAID’s funded Research for Scalable Solutions (R4S) project will conduct a study titled “An exploratory, mixed-method study of family planning self-care in Nepal, Niger, and Uganda” (Self-care acceptability Study). The rational is that; as countries move towards achieving universal health coverage for Family planning (FP), there is a need to understand the perceptions, behaviors and preferences related to FP self-care and how it may be leveraged to meet FP goals in Nepal, Niger and Uganda. This information will advance understanding of commonalities and differences related to FP self-care in these different contexts. Study findings are also expected to support the thinking around measurement of FP self-care at both the country and global levels, which will help track progress in implementing FP self-care policies and programs.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in health facility data collection activities
  • Administer informed consent, conduct and complete interviews following the study protocol, and answer questions that the respondents may ask before or during data collection
  • Provide Investigators/supervisors with daily updates
  • Be responsible for data collection and data management processes including validation to ensure quality data collection/quality of data elements/data editing
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the core Investigator(s)





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Public Health, Statistics, and any other related discipline.
  • Experience, skills, and other requirements
  • Prior experience in conducting health facility surveys
  • Proficiency in English (both spoken and written)
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to spend time away from home
  • Ability to work under stringent deadlines and independently with minimal supervision
  • Should have experience in Quantitative and Qualitative data collection methods
  • Must be willing to work in any part of Uganda
  • Possession of a certificate of completion course on protecting human research participants/
  • Good Clinical Practice
  • Period of contract: short term (not more than one month)
