About US:

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of Health.

 

Job Summary:  The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) with support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation seeks to hire suitable candidates for the position of STUDY NURSE to conduct the IDRC SMC and CPES study. The successful candidate will be based in

Nakapiripirit district.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for patient randomization to treatment,
  • Oversight of the welfare of patients.
  • Issue transport reimbursements to study patients
  • Work with Clinicians to manage the daily operation of the study clinic, ensuring the clinic opens Monday-Sunday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm, when on duty
  • Participate in screening participants into the study
  • Triaging participants and taking vital signs during screening and other clinic visits
  • Schedule and review routine patient appointments and assist in the identification of missed visits
  • Ordering of drugs and other clinic supplies, keeping stock of drugs and other clinical supplies
  • Administer and manage study and concomitant drugs and maintain all
  • accountability logs
  • Conduct any needed ongoing participant counseling

 

Key Result Areas

  • Participants correctly randomized and treated;
  • Appropriate patient management;
  • Accurate and timely entry, tracking, and recording of information on all source
  • documents;
  • Accurate and timely entry of all data and resolution of data queries;
  • Adequate coverage of the study clinic;
  • Building a Cohesive Study team;





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Enrolled/Registered/Comprehensive Nursing certificate, or Diploma from a recognized Institution.
  • At least three years of work experience in a similar setting and or performing a similar activity
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills, and networking skills
  • Integrity and ability to develop a productive working relationship with District Health Teams.
  • Ability to operate in a fast and diverse environment
  • Willingness to live and work upcountry in Uganda
  • Able to speak Karamojong
