About US:

Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) is a non-governmental organization that provides Development Communication services aimed at influencing positive behavior change for the social development of men, women and children in Uganda and the entire East African Region. CDFU is a partner on the “I Decide Project” Phase II with funding through Plan International Uganda. Plan International Uganda acquired a Grant from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Finland through Plan Finland to implement a four-year project aimed at increasing access to SRHR information and services to children, adolescents and youths.  The project is implemented through collaboration with partners including CDFU and CBOs at sub-county level in the districts of Apac, Kwania, Kole, Lira, Alebtong, and Lira City.

 

Job Summary:  Provide support to the Project Coordinator; supervise work of the CBOs attached to CDFU in the CDFU project districts. To oversee planning, implementation and monitoring of activities in the project districts. Activities to be implemented include orientation of institutional governing bodies; support student learning on SRHR and life skills, train select community, cultural & religious leaders, train senior women teachers, train young people in secondary schools on social and gender norms regarding adolescent health services; and media engagement to challenge negative norms.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Health, Social Sciences, Community Psychology, Population or related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in implementing Social & Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and or district-based interventions to promote Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights. Demonstrate knowledgeable practice of working with districts, non-governmental and community-based organizations/structures as well as government departments. Must have experience working at the community level to implement SBCC interventions. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player. Demonstrate good interpersonal communication. Good presentation and writing skills. Computer skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • (Note: Knowledge of the local language (Lango) spoken in the project districts will be an added advantage).
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle is a must for the position
