The Mukwano Group of Companies is the leading manufacturer of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in the Great Lakes region, producing a wide range of market leader brands in soaps, edible cooking oils and fats, detergents, beverages, personal care products and plastics.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and take responsibility for a production shift
  • Oversee and provide technical guidance and support to subordinates in the manufacturing department
  • Manage the preventive maintenance and report any malfunctions of the machines to the productions Officer
  • Assign work to subordinates
  • Work in liaison with the productions officer assist in the appraisal and performance of subordinates
  • Prepare daily shift production reports
  • Actively participate in routine stock taking at the plant
  • Keenly monitor movement of finished products from the production plant to the warehouse
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Any other duties assigned by the Production Officer.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Degree in Industrial Chemistry, Food science and technology
  • Two years of relevant experience in a manufacturing plant in a supervisory position.
  • Ability to effectively control manpower
  • Excellent communication skills including reading skills
  • An aptitude for math
  • Mechanical ability, ability to work in high places
  • Proven ability to get along with co-workers
  • Demonstrated ability to keep up to date with changing technology
  • High degree of creativity
  • Possess the ability to do precision work
  • Good knowledge of HACCP and general ISO standards are a must.
