Job Summary:  To provide overall Retail Marketing Leadership, Development/Review of existing products, Innovation and implementation of strategies for customer acquisition and retention in line with the bank’s policies and strategies so as to drive business growth and maximize profitability of the business segment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide overall direction to Personal Banking and Products business segments and management within the bank.
  • To lead the thought process and coordination of cross functional efforts for innovating and developing new products that are in line with PostBank’s business strategy and marketing positioning.
  • Manage the Personal Banking channels to optimize service delivery
  • Develop and execute product strategy for new and existing products as well as provide sales and operational management.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of the Personal Banking business growth plan, including the development of budgets, and providing quarterly updates, execution, revisions and modifications to the Plan
  • Take responsibility for strategic management, business development and profitability of applicable business segments
  • Develop, execute and manage Personal Banking strategy and tactical business plan, taking into account the market opportunities/growth potential, competitor activities, existing capabilities and risk appetite
  • Conduct target market selection, develop customer propositions and new products or improve the existing product portfolio within personal banking
  • Oversee the market/product segmentation and initiatives to ensure continual market relevance of the bank.
  • Ensure growth of Assets and liabilities within the entire network
  • Drive initiatives required to achieve the product marketing and sales strategy for the bank
  • Develop mechanisms for identification, recognition and reward for sales performers in line with the approved rates.
  • Lead the market and Product research, ideation, development and commercialization of new Products to maintain the relevance and profitability of the bank in line with its market positioning
  • Monitor strategic aspects of existing product portfolio including product performance, continuous competitor analysis and recommending appropriate actions, strategies and tactics to sustain product performance
  • Provide regular feedback on product requirements for local markets, including product specifications functionality, pricing and translation needs
  • Prepare and execute local product launches and report on expectations of market size, market uptake, market share and expected budgeted sales
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
  • Responsible for the personal banking /products business & financial targets as will be agreed using deferent parameters esp. on customer numbers, Liabilities, Assets and revenue growth.
  • Responsible for controlling costs within agreed budget
  • Responsible for the Products Research & Development budget.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should have an honours bachelor’s degree in a business discipline such as Banking, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management or any other relevant field obtained from a recognized academic Institution
  • Possession of a Certified banking qualification or Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage
  • Relevant Practical training in banking product development.
  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Banking Industry, of which 4 must be in a Sales, Product Development and Personal or Retail Banking function at a managerial level in a reputable financial Institution
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within fields of banking, community development, and neighbourhood revitalization
  • Must have an in-depth understanding about banking product features, pricing, benefits, positioning, design and promotions.
  • The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential
  • Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries
  • Ability to demonstrate positive image and role model PBU’s values and leadership behaviours
  • This position requires a highly self-directed individual with independent judgment
  • Business acquisition Skills, Relationship Management skills, People Management Skills, Negotiation Skills, Leadership skills, Marketing, Selling and Strong Credit analysis skill
  • Must have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized and self-directed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to demonstrate and coach exceptional customer service
  • Must be a person of impeccable integrity
