Job Summary: The Finance and Grants Officer will assist with finance and granting activities for the project. They report to the Grants Manager.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review all field expenses and vouchers according to JSI documentation requirements & USAID requirements
  • Assist in reviewing vouchers for meeting Si documentation requirements; Ensure that vouchers are photocopied and filed on a weekly basis
  • Assist in closing the monthly field accounts for submission to the Home Office
  • Assist in the tracking of vendor payments to ensure timely processing
  • Assist in the review of payments to vendors for goods and services
  • Assist in review of activity and expense reports from staff for all documentation
  • Help in monitoring and preparing tax payments on behalf of project staff
  • Follow up with employees regarding outstanding advances accounts
  • Assist in monitoring project expenses and generate financial reports from Quickbooks when Accountant is not available
  • Assist Grants Manager with grantee/finance-related tasks
  • Assist Grants Manager in financial assessment for grantees
  • Assist in review of grantee financial reports
  • Assist in processing grantee financial reports/invoices,
  • Assist in producing financial reports re: grantee expenditures and disbursements
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining project grants files
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Grants Manager




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance/Accounting or any business-related field
  • At least three years of experience working in finance/accounting preferably with international projects;
  • Good skills in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Experience working with accounting software preferred
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations and past international development sector experience are preferred.
