Reports to: Deputy Director Bioddiversity, Monitoring and Research

 

About US:

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200.

 

Job Summary:  The Manager Airwing will ensure an effective and efficient Air Wing that is effectively implementing the Organizational programs and activities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Piloting air crafts’ for UWA staff transportation.
  • Conducting aerial wildlife counts.
  • Liaising with CAA over aircraft operations and procedures.
  • Carrying out aerial law enforcement operations.
  • Carrying out evacuation flights
  • Upkeep all technical logs and supervising the preparation of maintenance contracts.
  • Organizing and scheduling payments for all aircraft landing, air navigation and parking Charges
  • Performing any other related duties assigned by his/her supervisor.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Should possess a current Uganda Commercial pilot’s license.
  • Should have a minimum of 4000 hours of which not less than 40 hours will have been flown as a pilot in command for the last six months.
  • Operation of a single engine (piston) aircraft with constant speed propellers is a must
  • A type rating (for the fleet UWA has at the time)
  • Should have at least 2,000 flying hours coupled with bush flying.
  • Experience in Cessna182, 206 or 210.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills.
  • Finance and human resource management skills
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Concern for quality and standards;
  • Leadership and Team Work
  • Knowledge of Public Procurement and Disposal processes
  • High moral integrity
