UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) is a registered financial institution in Uganda and is adherent to the Central Bank’s regulations and guidelines and was founded in 1994 to provide quality microfinance services.

 

Job Summary:  The Credit Analyst is a member of the Head Office Credit Team and is responsible for promoting credit underwriting, the performance of Agricultural lending and the related activities according to UGAFODE’s business growth plans and targets.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and appraise Agricultural loan proposals prepared by branches for accuracy, risks, credit worthiness, security coverage and completeness of documentation as per the credit policy and procedures.
  • Presenting loan proposals to the Head Office Credit committees in line with the credit approval limits
  • Maintain good agricultural loan portfolio quality as per the institutional targets by ensuring good quality of credit under writing and overall portfolio quality for branches allocated.
  • Conduct branch field visits to monitor and review the performance of the Agricultural loan, identify risks and propose recommendations for improvement/product reviews as well as build credit staff knowledge, skills and competencies in Agricultural lending.
  • Establish and manage partnerships such as in Agricultural value chain financing, Credit guarantee schemes, Agricultural insurance etc.. and prepare periodic reports according to the various MOU requirements
  • Promote customer attraction and retention through good Turn-Around Time for loan applications processing and approval to meet their financing needs as per business seasonality.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business Administration (a degree in Agriculture will be of an added advantage).
  • Excellent credit analysis and underwriting skills and competencies
  • Two years of work experience as Branch Manager or three as a Credit Supervisor
  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of Agricultural lending and related risks
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent networking and stakeholder management
  • Willingness to travel to the field/visit farms for 75% of work time
