Job Summary:  The Business Development Officer supports the direction of the operations and staff of Business Development. Assists in guiding the new business lifecycle. Supports capacity building of business development skills across the organization. Supports proposal development and systems. Develops specific modules and other training tools that ensure business development capacities and learning are embedded across the organization and are specifically placed close to the communities where Pathfinder works. Works with Programs and Impact, ME, Talent Management, and other business units to advise on proposal and other capacity building decisions affecting program strategic directions and partnering opportunities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possesses foundational knowledge of US Government donor agencies (e.g., USAID, CDC, State Department), non-US donor agencies, foundations, and corporations as potential funding sources.
  • Develops proposals according to set standards and guidelines.
  • Has foundational knowledge of European Commission funding mechanisms, and those of other countries (e.g., DFID).
  • Maintains foundational knowledge of USG and USAID rules and regulations.
  • Cultivates strong networks and manages multiple, complex pursuits.
  • Has knowledge of corporate and foundation fundraising, including standards and guidelines for writing proposals
  • and managing overall corporate and foundation solicitation efforts.
  • Researches current issues, emerging funding trends, and research in SRHR.
  • Reads and interprets data for reporting. Proven ability to generate and present standard reports.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Business or related field, or a combination of education and experience that yields the minimally required competencies.
  • Four years of work experience
  • Work experience with a multinational organization

 

Preferred Education and Work Experience:

  • Experience living or working in developing countries that aids in the understanding of program context, field realities, and technical needs
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other customer relationship management (CRM) systems and donor database
  • Competency in French, Arabic, or Portuguese

 

Other Information:

  • Travel up to 35%
  • Uses cellular and desk phone; laptop or desktop computer
  • May assist in the proposal development process on major high value efforts.
  • May assist in representing Pathfinder to donors and outside agencies at different venues, some in partnership with technical or executive leadership.
