About US:

The Makerere University School of Public Health Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Support (Mak SPH-METS) Program is a five-year (2020-2025) CDC-funded Cooperative Agreement. The MakSPH-METS program emerged out of the growing recognition of the importance of evidence-based decision making for an AIDS Free Generation in Uganda. The overall purpose of the Program is to establish coordinated and effective national and district systems for the management of strategic information for a robust HIV response.

 

Job Summary:  The Grants Management Officer – HISTAC will be responsible for overseeing the financial transactions of the HISTAC Project, tasked with developing budgets, monitoring transactions, and preparing financial reports. The post holder is also responsible for leading day to day administrative and logistics requirements of the project. The Level of Effort required for this position is 60%.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate program scheduling, budgeting, and administrative tasks
  • Ensuring that projects are run in compliance with the Organization, and donor requirements
  • Manage the planning and procurement of all program assets and requirements
  • Lead the planning, acquisition and maintenance of program logistics and assets
  • Providing administrative guidance to program teams
  • Maintaining and integrating program plans
  • Tracking & reporting overall administrative progress
  • Managing and monitoring the program budget
  • Ensure program assets are insured and in good working condition
  • Planning & scheduling resources for program staff and activities
  • Monitoring resource utilization
  • Supports the staff by facilitating acquisition and availability of logistics such as meetings, conference rooms, conference calls.
  • Guide and oversee procurement of all program assets
  • Undertake the management of all administrative correspondence with funders.
  • Maintain and update computerized & manual filing systems
  • Liaise with accountants in the preparation and management of program funds.
  • Processing and managing requests, invoices and payments.
  • Ensure that financial systems and controls are in place
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by Management and the HISTAC Principal Investigator.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, Finance, Business Administration, and related qualifications
  • Five years of experience working in finance and administration of a busy organization
  • In-depth knowledge of USG financial regulations
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
