Job Summary:  Reporting to the SGBV Officer, the SGBV Assistant – Prevention will provide support to the SGBV Officer in the implementation of programme activities for the Prevention of SGBV in Refugee and host communities, and promotion of protection integration activities through coordination with other stakeholders.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop yearly work plan for prevention activities (mobilization, budgeting and planning) with support from the SGBV officer
  • Develop and implement SASA Together Workplan for the GBV prevention
  • Ensure implementation and provide technical assistance for successful implementation of SASA Workplan – all activities
  • Assessments
  • Trainings
  • Engagement plan for CAs, CLs, Influential
  • Mentoring of CAs
  • Reporting- trends and analysis of CAs reports/ findings.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, support, mentoring and guidance to SASA! Community activists and incentive workers to ensure outreach activities meet the highest quality standards and adheres to GBV best practice and guiding principles.
  • Design the SGBV campaign plan for the project and implement it in within the refugee response and host community – in close collaboration and support from SGBV officer
  • Support in developing communication strategies and work with team and communities to develop and test appropriate IEC materials
  • Support the SGBV Officer in assessing SGBV risk factors among persons of concern and flag potential risks aid future targeted programming.
  • Work in close collaboration with the response team to ensure on going needs of risk groups, women and girls are being met in the prevention related activities.
  • Support in Organizing and facilitating Trainings for staff, incentive workers, support groups and agency workers on SGBV related topics.
  • Support the SGBV officer in organizing continuous refresher talks for refugee community Action groups/structures.
  • Actively plan and submit weekly and monthly work plans and progress reports against set work plans using agreed reporting tools to the supervisor.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Psychology, and/or Social Work or related field required;
  • At least two (2) years of experience working with SGBV Survivors, preferably in Refugee settings;
  • Experience promoting community-level behavior change targeting prevention of SGBV essential, particularly experience based on activation of community-level structures, refugee leadership bodies, etc.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports for both internal and external use essential;
  • Experience managing project work flow, development of project work plans, and carrying out on site monitoring and evaluation of works conducted essential;
  • Knowledge of SASA methodology is preferable.
  • Fluency in Swahili and ability to ride a Motorcycle with a valid license (Class A) is an added advantage.
