Job Summary:  We are in search of competent Database Administrator to be a part of our Business Technology Department.

 

The Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring high performance, availability, integrity and security of database systems at Hofokam. The role holder will also be responsible for building new databases, schemas whenever required, performing daily database backups and restoration where required in addition to designing system reports in accordance with Hofokam’s policies and operating procedures.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Database Administration through installation and upgrading databases for all environments (Testing, Production, Reporting and DR).
  • Storage administration to ensure optimal resource utilization,
  • Monitoring of all databases for optimal performance.
  • Coordinating the development and execution of Data Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) in line with Hofokam’s BCPs and guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Accountable for routine monitoring and ensuring that DR and Production databases are in sync, performing database backups and restoration.
  • Accountable for Database Security by controlling the creation of database users, granting privileges and managing user roles, database encryption and auditing.
  • Data warehousing through data mining and data extraction, developing meaningful reports for Operations teams and Management.
  • Continuously updating database procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues users log within agreed SLA.
  • Perform close of business processes in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Develop weekly and monthly performance reports, uptime reports etc.
  • Support the Business Team(s) to automate business processes as required.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science/Database Administration or related qualifications.
  • Certifications in Microsoft certified database administrator (MSCDBA) or Oracle database, Microsoft SQL
  • At least two years’ experience working in a financial institution as a DBA.
  • Previous experience working with Rubikon® Core Banking system and Crystal Reports is an added advantage.

  • Hard working self-starter with initiative.
  • Relevant IT/industry experience and/or qualifications/experience in the following areas:
  • Database Design, Management and Administration
  • Unix/Linux Administration
  • Data backup and restoration.
  • Sever installation and Management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server
  • Hardware and Software installation and repairs.
  • Domain controller and DHCP administration skills
  • Age: 24-35 years of age.
