Job Summary:   The Financial Control Accountant – Fixed Assets and Leases will be accountable for efficiency and effective utilization of Bank Investment in Fixed asset and ensuring adherence to IFRS & PBU policy in any matter of fixed asset Management.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all fixed asset acquisitions are properly and promptly captured in bank reports/ system
  • Custodian of the general ledger relating to Fixed assets and ensuring the asset register balances tally to General ledgers for Cost, Accumulated depreciation, and depreciation expense.
  • Maintain the IFRS 16 model, ensure monthly amortizations are done,
  • Reconcile Right of Use, Accumulated depreciation
  • Maintain the Lease payment schedules and Lease Liability reconciliation and adherence to IAS 21.
  • Ensuring that Work in progress is monitored regularly and completed works capitalized appropriately.
  • Ensuring Monthly depreciation costs are booked appropriately.
  • Recommend assets due for write off and or disposal.
  • Carry out asset count exercise to establish accuracy of asset records Vs physical presence.
  • Preparation of requisite schedules to facilitate audit exercise.
  • Maintain proper documentation for Asset count reports, movement, disposal and write offs.
  • Fast track automation of fixed assets and Inventory management module.
  • Ensure adherence to PBU accounting policies & Procedures.
  • Preparation of PPE an IFRS 16 disclosures for Annual financial statements
  • Assist the Manager Financial reporting in the financial reporting function and general ledger integrity
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Business degree in finance / Accounting.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CPA) is an added advantage.
  • Two years of experience in banking or an equivalent industry.
  • Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Understanding of best fixed asset and Inventory management practices
  • Knowledge of an automated fixed asset and Inventory management system
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills required in liaising with people at different levels within the bank.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Dynamic self – starter with a personal ambition to grow an accounting career.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills particularly in MS Word, MS Excel and MS access, Power Point.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
  • Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive image and role model PBU’s values and leadership behaviors.
  • A sense of ownership and pride in performance and its impact on the company’s success.
  • Must be a person of impeccable integrity.
