Job Summary:  The Community Banker will be accountable for the execution of sales strategies targeting PostBank’s Community Banking segment and for growth of the community banking portfolio at Branch level.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the implementation of sales strategies for growing the community banking portfolio at branch level through developing tactics for identifying new customers and promoting the relevant bank products.
  • Cary out Community Lending & Portfolio management work at the branch.
  • Assess credit requests in line with the bank’s credit standards, policies and practices and make recommendations to the credit committee.
  • Meet and train groups the modalities of borrowing and loan repayments.
  • Prepare offer letters for Head of Credit/ Credit Committee’s approval.
  • Raising of vouchers in line with the stated terms and conditions of the offer letter.
  • Posting/Verifying of the day’s work.
  • Maintain files for all loan customers.
  • Ensure that all customers’ files are safely locked away all the time.
  • Call/check day’s work and ensure that all wrong entries are reversed not later than the following working day.
  • Ensure that all paid up accounts are properly closed in the system.
  • Ensure that vouchers are appropriately filed and kept.
  • Grow the loan book, as per the agreed targets from time to time.
  • Monitor and follow up loan portfolio quality performance. Maintain the PAR targets as will be agreed from time to time.
  • Recover nonperforming loans.
  • Recruit and attend to Branch Agents, internal and external customer queries and complaints in line with the customer service standards of the Bank.
  • Follow-up with back office processing to ensure timely reconciliation of agents accounts and also monitor both float and liquidity levels of Agents.
  • Manage performance and productivity of agents as per set performance targets.
  • Submit regular performance reports and returns/data to the Branch Management.
  • Implement sale promotions & action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Implement knowledge acquisition of Community Banking products to potential customers.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the head of department or management.
  • Accountable for the branch Agency & Community Banking financial targets as will be agreed using different parameters esp. on Agents numbers, customer numbers, Liabilities, Assets and revenue growth.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Business degree in finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, management, or any relevant field.
  • Relevant Practical training in Community banking in the financial services sector.
  • At least two years’ experience in banking or an equivalent industry.
  • Business Acumen & Result Driven.
  • Understands lending operations specific to community & Personal banking.
  • Selling skills.
  • Good Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Numerical Skills.
  • Customer Service Skills.
  • Understanding of Bank processes/workflows.
  • The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
  • Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive image and role model PBU’s values and leadership behaviors.
  • Must be a person of impeccable integrity.
