About US:

Dairy Development Authority (DDA) is a Semi-Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries. Its mandate is to develop and regulate the sector. It is established under the Dairy Industry Act, 1998 and its objectives are to provide proper coordination and efficient implementation of all Government policies that are designed to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency in the production of milk in Uganda by promoting production and competition in the dairy industry and monitoring the market for milk and dairy products.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Support the implementation of government policies governing milk production, processing, marketing and consumption of milk and milk products.
  • Conduct trainings that is aimed at increasing compliance to milk processing, value addition and marketing.
  • Ensure dairy farms, businesses, milk and milk products within the region comply with the set standards and regulations.
  • Support relevant actors in the region to enhance compliance to set dairy standards and regulations.
  • Enforce dairy regulations to safe guard the public health and well-being of the consumers.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on milk quality and safety interventions in the region.
  • Assemble statistical data relating to quality and safety interventions and recommend registration of dairy businesses in the region.
  • Participate in the development of strategies and interventions to strengthen dairy stakeholders’ organizations within the region.
  • Supervise and Mentor the Senior Dairy Inspectors.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold an Honours degree in Dairy Science & Technology or Honours degree in Food Science and Technology or any relevant qualifications from a recognized University.
  • Master’s degree in a related field is a must.
  • At least six (6) years of working experience of which three (3) years are at senior level.
