Job Summary: The M&E Officer will support the creation, implementation, and maintenance of Samaritan’s Purse Uganda (SPUG) monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, which seek to ensure that SPUG activities result in the achievement of their intended outputs/outcomes. S/he will work closely with project managers to ensure quality data and information are captured and appropriately presented for a variety of audiences.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in the development of tools for evaluation and impact assessment of SPUG projects. Develop and update project monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Participate in data collection, compilation and analysis.
  • Monitor project indicators, outputs and outcomes to understand and evaluate project impact and overall progress towards the achievement of results.
  • Ensure that staff understand and work to meet/surpass the minimum standards set by SPUG project management guidelines.
  • Maintain the SPUG projects database, ensuring project information is accurate and up-to-date. Prepare regular monitoring reports using the data collection tools developed/provided.
  • Provide feedback to the Program Development Officer on project strategies and activities; support in the design/development of new projects.
  • Identify and document lessons learnt, collect information for case studies and facilitate periodic reviews. Conduct all activities in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, in coordination with team members, other departments and in line with SPUG, government and donor policies and best practices. Participate in morning devotions and maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, project stakeholders, project beneficiaries, and the general public. Any other duties as assigned.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in development studies, statistics, or related field; Master’s degree in related field an advantage.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role within the NGO sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in training facilitation and curriculum development. Proactive, adaptable and results-oriented; good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, manage time, and meet deadlines in an ever-changing environment.
  • Willingness to travel to the field.
  • A generous and serving spirit.
  • Commitment to empathy, integrity, responsibility, transparency and efficiency.
