Mbale Area Federation of Communities (MAFOC) working with ChildFund is a child focused Community Development NGO operating in the Eastern Uganda, in the Districts of Mbale, Sironko/ Bulambuli, Budaka, Kibuku and Butaleja comprising of eight communities of Simu, Nampanga, Bugusege, Busiu, Mazimasa, Butove, Kadenge and Pulaka. The Organisation seeks to recruit competent staff for the position of Finance and Administration officer. MAFOC promotes an environment where children live in dignity to achieve their full potential, by addressing the experiences and root causes of child poverty and adversity at family and community levels, while improving chances for a better future.

 

Job Summary:  The Finance and Administration Officer will provide sound financial management, accounting, administrative services, grants acquisition & management and to ensure proper monitoring & effective utilization of organizational resources in compliance with specified MAFOC policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

  • Planning and Strategies
  • Process Accounting and Internal Controls
  • Procurement Support
  • Budgeting and Budgetary Control
  • Treasury Management
  • Audits support
  • Management and Training of Staff
  • Ensuring understanding of donor compliance requirement by Finance and Program staff




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting), Business Administration (Accounting) or any other Finance management related field.
  • Three years of experience in finance, accounting/bookkeeping activities, auditing, business administration, or related field preferably with emergency and/or development programs.
  • Partial or full professional qualification in ACCA or CPA. Is an added advantage
  • Certificate in Procurement and Supply Chain Management is an added advantage
  • 3+ years’ experience in a busy Child focused NGO setting.
  • Relevant work experience in accounting, analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial software/ reporting systems in an organization with UN/EU/USG Grants Standard Provisions and Financial Requirements preferable.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, International Accounting Standards, and internal control measures.
  • Practical computer skills and experience with QuickBooks is a MUST.
  • Aptitude for teamwork
  • High level of people management and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrable ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; experience in team leadership and participatory management.
  • High level of Personal integrity, honesty, accountability, and confidentiality.
  • Self- guided, strong organizational and planning skills with ability to work independently and under tight time constraints.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret budgets.
