Job Summary:  The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for curriculum development and training of partner church leaders and Samaritan’s Purse Uganda (SPUG) staff. S/he will collect and analyze data to identify community, partner and staff needs and to influence planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in the design of technical and implementation aspects of Samaritan’s Purse Project(s), ensuring the project will meet technical requirements and satisfy the needs of the beneficiaries.
  • Prioritize beneficiary engagement and utilize accountability mechanisms to ensure that beneficiary feedback is incorporated into project design/implementation and documented learning.
  • Develop training curriculums as per project and staff needs.
  • Lead the process of identifying capacity gaps in church leaders, developing training content and conducting trainings for church leaders and other partners.
  • Coordinate and work closely with partner churches to follow-up with support for project beneficiaries.
  • Complete regular (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual) activity and project reports, working with the Program Manager to monitor and maintain project progress to ensure goals are achieved on time, evaluate challenges as they arise, and utilize creative problem solving to identify solutions.
  • Conduct all activities in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, in coordination with team members, other departments and in line with SPUG, government and donor policies and best practices.
  • Participate in morning devotions and maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, project stakeholders, project beneficiaries, and the general public.
  • Any other duties as assigned.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Must agree with and uphold the mission and objectives of the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology or related field; additional qualifications are an advantage.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in community engagements and ministry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Must hold a valid Class A and B driver’s permit.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in training facilitation and curriculum development. Proactive, adaptable and results-oriented; good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, manage time, and meet deadlines in an ever-changing environment. Willingness to travel to and be based in the field; a generous and serving spirit.
