Job Summary:  As a Business Development Specialist, you will contribute to the production of high-quality proposals in support of CRS’ Country Program Strategy and its donor engagement priorities to enable CRS’ continued efforts to serve the poor and vulnerable in Uganda. Your knowledge and skills will contribute to the strengthening of the BD processes within the country program.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Contributes to proposal development processes to ensure the timely submission of high-quality proposals that meet donor requirements, applicable regulations, and CRS technical and cost standards.
  • Contributes to the non-technical writing of proposals and participates in proposal review committees.
  • Integrates the contributions of technical contributors, CRS and partner staff to produce coherent and responsive proposals.
  • Helps to develop and maintain donor and competition intelligence documents using CRS business development tools and guidelines.
  • With the business development team and others, supports documentation of lessons learnt from existing projects and their incorporation into proposals.
  • Works with appropriate staff to maintain a register of past performance references for quick incorporation into proposals.
  • As delegated by Strategic Business Development Specialist, leads mapping and relationship building with local entities including NGOs, private sector, universities, etc.
  • As delegated by Strategic Business Development Specialist, leads local partner and GOU positioning and engagement




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in international development, international relations or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in emergency and development programming within Uganda
  • Very strong writer with an expert mastery of English grammar
  • Demonstrated experience with competitive proposals in programming contexts similar to those of CRS.
  • Familiarity with USG funding mechanisms and proposal requirements is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong strategic, analytical, systems thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Good relationship management skills with ability to communicate with people internally and externally.
  • Proactive, resourceful, solution-oriented and results-oriented.
  • Experience with MS Windows and MS Office packages (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and web conferencing programs
  • Excellent English language oral and written communication skills required.
  • Willing and able to travel within the country approximately 30% of the time
  • Work Conditions/Environment Conditions: Normal office presence position
