About USAID Project:

The goal of the
five-year, USAID-funded Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity
is for Ugandan children and youth, especially the most vulnerable, to receive
the support and services necessary to lead resilient, healthy, and productive
lives.

 

Job Summary:  The Data Assistant will support the
consolidation of M&E data, support analysis, and generate reports as needed
as well as support the development of data collection tools and project
management indicators.

 

The Data Assistant
will work closely with the M&E Team to enter data from various source
documents into the computer system for storage, processing and data management
purposes. The Data Assistant will report to the Database Manager. This is a
full-time position based in Kampala, Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

M&E Support
Functions

·       
Work
with database manager, M&E and project teams to: find and implement
technological solutions to data-related challenges, ensure integration between
numerous systems in order to reduce unnecessary redundancies;

·       
Regularly
communicate and support the M&E and project teams; 

·       
Prepare,
compile and sort documents for data entry;

·       
Check/verify
source documents for accuracy and correct and update data where necessary;

·       
Combine
and rearrange data from source documents where required;

·       
Enter
data from source documents into prescribed computer database, files and forms;

·       
Transcribe
information into required electronic format;

·       
Scan
documents into document management systems or databases;

·       
Assist
with establishing and maintaining filing systems for information and documents
(hard or electronic) in provincial; 

·       
Respond
to requests for information and access relevant files;

·       
Print
information when required;

·       
Comply
with data quality, integrity and security policies;

·       
Actively
participates in Collaborative, Learning and Adapting (CLA) processes in place
within the project. 

Administrative
related work

·       
Assist
in undertaking e-registration and e-attendance at training events

·       
Assist
in undertaking photocopying work at the office

·       
Assist
in organizing and setting up venues & taking photos at events (workshops,
trainings etc.).

·       
Conduct
these and other tasks as required in support of project goals.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Education Development Center (EDC) Data Assistant should have
completed secondary education and 2 to 3 years of data management and M&E
experience required.

·       
At least
two years of relevant experience with data collection, and reporting required;

·       
Knowledge
of Excel + Power Query to clean, merge, pivot/un-pivot and transform data
preferred;

·       
Ability
to use both quantitative (e.g., SPSS, Stata, etc.) and qualitative (e.g., QDA
Miner, NVivo) software for data analysis a plus;

·       
Experience
working with USAID and PEPFAR funded projects will be an advantage;

·       
Ability
to generate queries for SQL databases a plus;

·       
Abilitytobalanceworkwithinateamenvironmentwhileworkingwithminimalsupervision;

·       
Strong
organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal
skills;

·       
Abilitytoworkeffectivelywithdiversestakeholders.

·       
Language:  Fluency in English is required.
