Job Summary:  The Corporate Communications Specialist will
be part of the Corporate Communications and Sustainability Unit, supporting the
delivery of Stanbic Bank Uganda’s communications strategy encompassing both
internal and external communications.


The role requires
the effective implementation of the corporate communications strategy and plan.
This involves the execution of all communications activities supporting
business campaigns, messaging development, media relations, internal
communications support, executive communications and crisis communications


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  


  • Support the development and implementation of PR and Media strategies
    that support the business campaigns and regular corporate communications
  • Work in close collaboration with Bank’s PR agency to support the
    execution of the communications strategy.
  • Proactive development of messaging supporting the bank’s narrative
    in marketing campaigns, thought leadership, investor relations and broader
    corporate updates.
  • Develop executive messaging including speeches, talking points and
    narrative for internal or external purposes.
  • Support the development of the publicity position plans for the
    Chief Executive and EXCO members in line with the business PR priorities
    working in close collaboration with the senior Manager, Sustainability and
  • Provide any required support the execution of the crisis communications
    strategy working closely with the Senior Manager, Sustainability and
  • Coordinate press briefings and organising of media events
  • Support the media trainings for the senior managers and Executives
    for all appearances.
  • Leads the development and coordination of video production shoots
    and photography sessions in line with annual key communications


  • Support the development of key messaging for key internal campaigns
    working closely with the Internal Communications Specialist and the Senior
    manager, Sustainability and Communications.
  • Where required, provide necessary support for internal
    communications events such as team town halls and conferences etc.
  • Contribute to the development of internal communications initiatives
    and innovation ideas.
  • Grow the partnerships with teams across the bank to ensure
    communication collaboration.

Media Relations

  • Responsible for management of Media relationships
  • Develop Media contacts to ensure accurate and fair reporting of bank
  • Proactively manage strategic media relations including research ,
    media training writing media releases, media events
  • Spokesman for the bank in respect with Media response and
    clarification and also briefing other media spokesperson.
  • Formulate and Implement Country media relationship strategy

Crisis Management

  • Prepare a Crisis management guideline document including BCM and
    proposal for all projects that bank undertakes
  • Prepare corporate responses to incidents that could become a crisis
  • Management of potential or actual crisis arising from stakeholders,
    shareholders or other publics.

Public Relations:

  • To establish & manage sponsorships programs that  contribute toward building the brand and
    deliver on business objectives
  • Manage customer information databases used for or collated
    during  events for purposes of
    stakeholder relations management and public relations
  • Support implementation of corporate social investment programs
  • Responsible for the submission of awarded entries into key

Events Management
and support:

  • Conceptualize and support  all
    the various internal and external events that the bank may host and
  • Work closely with the various event management companies that may be
    contracted for events in the bank

Other responsibilities:

  • Assign, supervise and review activities of Communication Consultants
  • Manage Communication department budget


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank Corporate Communications
    Specialist job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications,
    Journalism, Public Relations, Business or a related field (essential).
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in communications strategy
    development (essential).
  • Preferably have exposure to working in multi-national organizations.
  • Project management experience
  • Considerable business acumen and financial management exposure
  • Excellent customer delivery orientation
  • Dexterity in managing teams and working with multiple stakeholders
