About US:

The Uganda Refinery
Holding Company (URHC) is a Private Limited Liability Company that was
incorporated under the Companies Act (2012) as a subsidiary of the Uganda
National Oil Company (UNOC). The objective of the URHC is to hold Government’s
interest on behalf of UNOC in the oil refinery and associated infrastructure.
URHC, in partnership with an investor partner, will design, develop, build,
operate, and maintain the Uganda Refinery Project to be located in Kabaale,
Hoima District.

 

Job Summary:  The Process Engineer mainly provides process
technical expertise and services focused on enhancing the safety, reliability
and profitability of the process units.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Carry
out process engineering design activities, following refinery standards and
procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the project manager.

·       
Develop,
review, and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations,
process engineering datasheets and drawings to specify the process engineering
requirements.

·       
Generating
process design improvement projects for strategic and real business
improvement.

·       
Interfacing
with Process Licensors for technical support.

·       
Support
value improving practices and capture ideas for review and development with the
project team; promote continuous improvement throughout the project’s life
cycle; including lessons learned.

·       
Completing
process hazard analysis and process safety management requirements, including
the completion of action items.

·       
Monitoring
/ evaluating unit performance and maintaining effective monitoring reports.

·       
Troubleshooting
operational and process quality problems.

·       
Providing
technical content for operating procedures.

·       
Developing
and monitoring key performance metrics for assigned units.

·       
Providing
guidance to operations consistent with environmental and operational requirements.

·       
Perform
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold an undergraduate degree (Hons) in Chemical / Process /
Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years’ direct process work experience in the
refining, petrochemical and/or the chemical industry.

·       
Operations
or maintenance experience in a refinery, petrochemical or chemical environment
would be an asset.

·       
Experience
with process simulation programs.

·       
Computer
proficient, including applications for word processing and spreadsheets.

·       
Possess
effective leadership, interpersonal and team player skills; the ability to work
with and incorporate ideas of other organizations (i.e., health, safety, &
environmental (HS&E), maintenance).

·       
Encourages
creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.

·       
Possess
the ability to coordinate and provide leadership for multiple issues and
prioritize them appropriately given HS&E concerns (i.e., compliance items),
business, and personnel needs.

·       
This
position requires specialized engineering knowledge, applied to complex issues
and problems.

·       
May
provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff. Viewed
as site expert in an engineering field or discipline.

·       
A
self-starter with strong technical, interpersonal, communication and
organizational skills.
