Job Summary:  The Manager Institutional & Public Sector will
develop, review and monitor the implementation of strategies for the
acquisition, growth and retention of the Bank’s business client suite for the
Institutional and Public sector segments of the Bank’s clientele. This includes
directing sales for liabilities and assets, plus establishing sustained
relationship management in this customer segment in line with the Bank’s risk
management framework.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Develop
departmental strategies to achieve agreed sales targets for new accounts,
liabilities and assets within the Institutional and Public sector business
segment in line with the Bank’s overall strategies.

·       
Grow the
existing business and institutional banking relationships in order to increase
the Bank’s wallet share and maximize profitability.

·       
Develop
and retain relationships within the Institutional and Public sector business
segment that can lead to deposit mobilization, revenue generating opportunities
and asset growth.

·       
Conduct
a detailed needs analysis for all existing and potential customers so as to
determine their product needs or customized solutions.

·       
Identify
and close strategic partnerships with funding organizations to obtain funding
or technical support that can enhance the Bank’s value proposition to its
customers.

·       
Engage
with the branch network in liaison with the Branch Performance Managers and
Customer Experience to identify business opportunities in the targeted segments
to achieve the broader objectives of the Bank’s Strategic Business Plan.

·       
Provide
technical support to the branch network for deposit mobilisation

·       
Accountable
for portfolio management for the business segment; participate in the Credit
Monitoring and Collections Committee (CMCC)- when required, provide status
reports for credit facilities that are in the WATCH risk category and follow up
on the agreed remedial actions recommended in a timely manner.

·       
Implement
effective people management processes to ensure team members are motivated and
empowered to perform their sales and portfolio management roles effectively.

·       
Financial
Responsibility:
Responsible for
delivering the business & financial targets for the Institutional &
Public Sector lending segment.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Business degree in Finance, Commerce, Business
Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management or any relevant field.

·       
Possession
of a Certified banking qualification or master’s degree in a relevant field
would be an added advantage.

·       
Relevant
practical training in business lending or business development in the financial
services sector

·       
A
minimum of five years of experience in a Banking environment with at least 3
years in the relationship management function.

·       
Must
have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving
skills.

·       
Demonstrated
ability to develop strong and sustainable professional/ business relationships
with a diversity of individuals and institutions

·       
Good
communication skills both verbal and written

·       
Business
Development skills, Customer service skills, Relationship/ People Management
skills, Negotiation skills, Leadership skills, Marketing, selling and strong
Credit analysis skills.

·       
Demonstrated
supervisory experience in leading a team, with excellent coaching and
influencing skills to build professional and technical capabilities.

·       
Basic
Legal knowledge.

·       
Ability
to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional
manner is deemed essential.

·       
Ability
to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate,
and cultural boundaries.

·       
Takes
clear accountability, and focuses on delivery of broader departmental goals.

·       
Ability
to take decisions and progress towards goals in conditions of uncertainty.

·       
Ability
