Job Summary:  Watoto is seeking to recruit a Child
Development Officer to support early childhood development needs and mentor
mothers to train children in moral conduct.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • To guide and advise village management on innovative and best
    practises to promote discipline of Children.
  • To guide mothers on how best to discipline their children in
    accordance to the Child Protection Policy.
  • To supervise and guide on corrective activities of children on
    suspension and support with the reintegration of children from suspension.
  • To furnish the homes office and WISE with updated records regarding
    children’s discipline.
  • To conduct orientation to new children in the homes in accordance
    with the Discipline Policy of Watoto.
  • To implement, monitor and assess early childhood development
    programs, activities and initiatives.
  • To actively attend Homes management team meetings, all mothers
    meetings and cluster disciplinary committees.
  • To make follow ups on Children remanded in government facilities or
    other institutions like police, court, prison, external schools, Hospitals
    on discipline grounds.
  • To develop, update, maintain a comprehensive register of potentially
    challenged children.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the Watoto Child Development Officer role should
    have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
  • At least two years’ experience working with children in a similar
    role and a busy organisation.
  • Good inter-personal skills and ability to relate well to children of
    all ages.
  • Passionate about children’s welfare with ability to work effectively
    within a team environment.
  • Commitment to working within standardized guidelines.
  • High level of motivation and initiative and strive for a high
    standard of practice.
