Job Summary:  MSF is looking to recruit a suitable candidate
for the Qualitative Field Assistant Position. Among other responsibilities, the
ideal candidate will be tasked with Participating in the piloting of
qualitative tools and provide feedback and input to adaptions.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Act as a
translator (English to Lugbara and vice versa) for qualitative researcher
during qualitative data collection

·       
Conduct
in-depth interviews, group discussions, including Participatory Learning and
Action tools PLA, independently ( with HIV/TB patients, including adolescents
10-19 years and caretakers) under supervision of a qualitative researcher

·       
Write up
extensive field notes after each day of data collection

·       
Participate
in team debriefings and provide input and insights to ways of improving data
collection

·       
Translate
tools from English to Lugbara

·       
Participate
in the piloting of qualitative tools and provide feedback and input to
adaptions

·       
Participate
in the recruitment of study participants, including elaborately explaining the
purpose of the study

·       
Arrange
logistical and administrative details related to the qualitative data
collection

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The ideal
candidate must hold a Degree  in Social
Sciences/ Social Administration

·       
Previous
experience in conducting qualitative data 
collection & preferably as a Project Assistant

·       
Previous
experience in conducting qualitative data collection among patients/ vulnerable
groups and adolescent’s

·       
Experience
of working in a study team

·       
Desirable
computer literacy (word, excel, and internet).

·       
Languages:
English & Lugbara
essential.

 

Competences

·       
Empathetic,
open, non-judgmental, and able to quickly develop a trusting rapport with
different research participants ( adolescents, caretakers & patients)

·       
Excellent
listening skills and ability to ask to follow up questions

·       
Ability
to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English & Lugbara

·       
Ability
to translate English into written Lugbara proficiently

·       
Competent
with computer software applications including Microsoft Office programs ( Word,
Excel, PowerPoint)
