Job Summary:   The Programme Associate, Reproductive Health
supports the design, planning and management of UNFPA’s country programme by
managing data inputs, providing logistical support, monitoring project
implementation and following up on recommendations.

 

Under the overall
supervision of the Representative and direct supervision of Assistant
Representative, the Programme Associate-Reproductive Health substantively and
administratively contributes to the effective management of UNFPA activities in
the area of reproductive health. The Programme Associate-RH facilitates the
delivery of UNFPA programs by monitoring results achieved in the implementation.
He/she ensures and guides the appropriate application of systems and procedures
and develops enhancements if necessary.

 

The Programme
Associate-RH facilitates the work of consultants, advisors and experts and
establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with counterparts in
government, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donor agencies and civil society to
address emerging issues.

 

The Program
Associate-RH is a substantive contributor to the programme team in the Country
Office.

 

You will play an
instrumental role in facilitating UNFPA’s country programme and project
implementation, supporting design, planning and management, in the areas of
population and development, reproductive health and gender.

 

You will apply
established systems and procedures and assist in the creation of knowledge by
compiling, synthesizing and analyzing relevant information, developing
appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with procedures.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Participates
in the identification and formulation of the country programme and RH component
projects by compiling and analyzing information, drafting project documents and
work plans and preparing tables and statistical data.

·       
Contributes
in evaluating population and development project and programme activities,
establishing and implementing mechanisms to systematically assess the
achievement of results, conducting field visits, participating in review
meetings and evaluation missions and preparing regular inputs to women status
and progress reports. Analyzes basic factors affecting the achievement of RH
results, recommends corrective actions and follows up on recommendations.

In
coordination with national counterparts and project personnel guides routine
implementation of assigned projects, coordinating the delivery of project
inputs, ensuring participation of national counterparts in training activities
and study tours.

·       
Prepares
and monitors RH project budgets and expenditures through the UNFPA global
financial and programme software (Atlas); and reviews funding authorisation and
certificates of expenditure reports.

·       
Monitors
UNFPA programme activities by keeping close record of activities being
implemented on ground, funds being expended at the project level and agreements
being made with local partners.

·       
Support
training of project personnel and staff on national execution and programme
policies and procedures; Continuously guides implementing partners on UNFPA
programming processes including adherence to correct and timely reporting.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Programme
Associate, Reproductive Health job opportunity should have completed Secondary
Level Education. Required. First level university degree desirable.

·       
Seven
years of relevant experience in programme/ project management.

·       
Proficiency
in current office software applications and corporate IT systems.

·       
Languages:
Fluency in English; knowledge
of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
