About US:

Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) evolved from an
animal orphanage set up by the Game Department in 1952 as a sanctuary to care
for; the sick, injured, orphaned wild animals, sometimes confiscated from
illegal wildlife trade. In 1994, under the Trustees Incorporation Act Cap 147,
UWEC was transformed into the Entebbe Zoo. Through the UWEC Act-2015, UWEC is now
a fully-fledged statutory body under the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and
Antiquities by the UWEC Act, 2015.

 

The UWEC Act, 2015 mandates UWEC to; undertake Conservation Education,
wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and breeding of endangered animal species among
others.

 

Job Summary:  The Monitoring
and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for leading the project team in the
development and implementation of an M&E system and oversee routine program
monitoring activities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Lead the
planning and implementation of monitoring and evaluation of activities on
effectiveness of all UWEC program areas.

·       
Prepare
for and conduct Strategic Plan performance reviews and evaluations.

·       
Conduct
regular inspections to all work areas, detect areas that violate the
guidelines, poses human, animal risk/ hazard and initiate corrective measures.

·       
Maintain
positive contact between UWEC and program partners, funders and other
stakeholders.

·       
Responsible
for the quality of M&E related data to be collected throughout any program
implementation.

·       
Coordinate
the preparation of all performance reports and guide staff to prepare progress
reports in accordance with approved reporting formats and guidelines.

·       
Document
results of the M & E system and produce periodic reports required by Board.

·       
Monitor
the performance of staff at UWEC through setting realistic Key Performance
Indicators and asses and evaluate them.

·       
Performs
any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development
studies, statistics, economics or related field

·       
A post
graduate diploma in project planning and management will be an added advantage.

·       
Three
years of related work experience, two of which MUST be from a Tourism,
Conservation facility or service industry

·       
Experience
in planning processes, performance management, monitoring and evaluation,
capacity building or any other related field.
