registered youth led and children/youth focused NGO that implements children
and youth integrated development programs across the country in four thematic
areas; Health, Livelihood, Education, Human rights and skills Development and
Mentorship.

 

About USAID Project:

Youth Alive Uganda is an Implementing Partner on the five-year,
USAID-funded Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity in
partnership with World Education Bantwana Initiative and Education Development
Centre. The goal of (ICYD) Activity is for Ugandan children and youth,
especially the most vulnerable, to receive the support and services necessary
to lead resilient, healthy, and productive lives. The USAID ICYD activity aims
to improve learning outcomes, advance HIV epidemic control in Uganda and ensure
that children and youth have the opportunity to lead resilient, healthy and
productive lives. The USAID ICYD Activity will deliver critical
HIV/GBV/violence prevention and response services to children and youth and
their families in communities, clinics, and schools.

 

Job Summary:  The District
Based Trainers is a field-based position responsible for implementing Youth
field activities on USAID/Integrated Child and Youth Development Activity.
He/she works with the District Project Coordinators (DPCs) in cooperation with
Sub County Supervisors (Project officers) in the allocated Sub county to
improve capacity of Youth structures in communities and ensure Project Youth
activities are implemented following quality set standards/dimensions. The
position receives technical support from the SRGBV- Community Engagement
Specialist.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Project Implementation   

·       
Work
with school Administration, patrons/matrons and mentors to organise children
and youth into groups and coordinating all group activities.

·       
Support
peer leaders in ensuring proper documentation through compiling and filing
meetings minutes

·       
Train
club members in USAID/Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity
Journeys – evidenced based Curriculum Sessions

·       
Attend
monthly technical update meetings organised by Youth Alive ICYD team

·       
Developing
weekly and monthly reports regarding key implemented activities

·       
Developing
weekly and monthly work plans with support from the District Project
Coordinators and Project Officers

·       
Keep
track of participants’ attendance, issues of drop outs if any and suggesting
measures for improvement.

·       
Assist
in carrying out mapping exercises including identifying safe places where
vulnerable children and youth will be meeting in the community.

·       
Conducting
home visits as way of making follow up actions for beneficiaries.

·       
Case
Management in Youth Clubs in collaboration with PSWs and Field assistants to
ensure referrals to respective service points for integrated services.

·       
Support
in identification, validation and payments of beneficiaries for school
subsidies

·       
Track
and monitor school attendance of the in school youth beneficiaries

·       
Liaise
with health expert clients, PSWs and Project Officers in conducting referrals
and linkages of youth beneficiaries to HTS services

·       
Participate
in monthly case conferences to share cases identified in supported Youth clubs
with other ICYD community structures.

·       
Support
in assessment and enrollment of beneficiaries in the program

·       
Any
other Duties assigned by the Supervisor

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education from a
recognized institution

·       
Highly
organized individual, capable of handling multiple priorities

·       
Ability
to work independently as well as an effective team player

·       
Willingness
to walk for long distances within the operational Sub counties

·       
Confidence
and can-do attitude

·       
Previous
experience with other OVC community-based activities will be an added advantage

·       
Knowledge
of any evidence based curriculum models e.g journey

·       
Good
interpersonal skills

·       
Flexibility
and willingness to adjust to changing tasks.

·       
Work
calmly under pressure and meet deadlines

·       
Willingness
to comply with set Organizational policies and procedures

·       
Excellent
writing skills.

·       
Thorough
knowledge of English and Acholi / Langi are a must

·       
Must be
a resident within the targeted Sub county

·       
Age: 
Between 20-35 years
