registered youth led and children/youth focused NGO that implements children
and youth integrated development programs across the country in four thematic
areas; Health, Livelihood, Education, Human rights and skills Development and
Mentorship.

 

About USAID Project:

Youth Alive Uganda is an Implementing Partner on the five-year,
USAID-funded Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity in
partnership with World Education Bantwana Initiative and Education Development
Centre. The goal of (ICYD) Activity is for Ugandan children and youth,
especially the most vulnerable, to receive the support and services necessary
to lead resilient, healthy, and productive lives. The USAID ICYD activity aims
to improve learning outcomes, advance HIV epidemic control in Uganda and ensure
that children and youth have the opportunity to lead resilient, healthy and
productive lives. The USAID ICYD Activity will deliver critical
HIV/GBV/violence prevention and response services to children and youth and
their families in communities, clinics, and schools.

 

Job Summary:  The
Community Based Trainers is a field-based position responsible for implementing
Economic Strengthening activities on the USAID/Integrated Child and Youth
Development Activity. He/she works with the District Project Coordinators
(DPCs) in cooperation with Sub County Supervisors (Field Officers) in the
allocated Sub county to improve economic capacity of households to promote
resilience, learning and health outcomes. The position receives technical
support from the Economic Strengthening Specialist (ESS)

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Project Implementation   

·       
Mobilisation
and sensitisation of extremely vulnerable community members to establish VSLA’s

·       
Mobilisation
and raising awareness among community leaders and local Authorities regarding
VSLA project activities.

·       
Make
follow ups and provide technical support to VSLA groups.

·       
Training
village groups in the implementation of Village Savings and Loans Association
(VSLA’S) methodology, Financial Literacy, Business Management and Linkages.

·       
Together
with the village extension worker, support with establishment of model kitchen
gardens in selected sites within the communities

·       
Gathering
VSLA’S data, monitoring and evaluating the associations.

·       
Distributing
of tool kits and coordinate the payment and collection of tool kit funds.

·       
Preparation
of Periodic and operational Plans.

·       
Preparation
of Progress reports regularly.

·       
Support
all group leaders under your supervision.

·       
Support
in assessment and enrollment of beneficiaries in the program

·       
Participate
in monthly case conferences to share cases identified in supported Youth clubs
with other ICYD community structures.

·       
Any
other assignment from your supervision

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The applicant
must at least hold a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education from a recognized
institution though diploma in business, entrepreneurship, microfinance will be
an added advantage

·       
Highly
organized individual, capable of handling multiple priorities

·       
Ability
to work independently as well as an effective team player

·       
Willingness
to walk for long distances within the operational Sub counties

·       
Confidence
and can-do attitude

·       
Previous
knowledge and experience in rolling out VSLA, SPM and FL to community groups
will be an added advantage

·       
Good
interpersonal skills

·       
Flexibility
and willingness to adjust to changing tasks.

·       
Work
calmly under pressure and meet deadlines

·       
Willingness
to comply with set Organizational policies and procedures

·       
Excellent
writing skills.

·       
Thorough
knowledge of English and Acholi / Langi are a must

·       
Must be
a resident within the targeted Sub county

·       
Participate
in monthly case conferences to share cases identified in supported Youth clubs
with other ICYD community structures.
