youth integrated development programming since 1993. Youth Alive Uganda is a
registered youth led and children/youth focused NGO that implements children
and youth integrated development programs across the country in four thematic
areas; Health, Livelihood, Education, Human rights and skills Development and
Mentorship.

 

About USAID Project:

Youth Alive Uganda is an Implementing Partner on the five-year,
USAID-funded Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity in
partnership with World Education Bantwana Initiative and Education Development
Centre. The goal of (ICYD) Activity is for Ugandan children and youth,
especially the most vulnerable, to receive the support and services necessary
to lead resilient, healthy, and productive lives. The USAID ICYD activity aims
to improve learning outcomes, advance HIV epidemic control in Uganda and ensure
that children and youth have the opportunity to lead resilient, healthy and
productive lives. The USAID ICYD Activity will deliver critical
HIV/GBV/violence prevention and response services to children and youth and
their families in communities, clinics, and schools.

 

Job Summary:  The
Field Officer is a Sub county -based position responsible for overseeing the
implementation of USAID/Integrated Child and Youth Development Activity (ICYD)
activities at sub county level. He/she works with the District Project
Coordinators (DPCs) in cooperation with Sub County community structures. (CBTs,
DBTs, PSWs, Linkage facilitators) to ensure that all planned activities are
implemented as required

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Project Implementation  

·       
The FO
will assist the District Project Coordinator in project management, monitoring,
reporting, to meet project objectives in the sub-counties; and work closely
with local partner organizations in the sub-counties.

·       
Provide
guidance to the CBTs, DBTs and PSWs in planning, implementation, and monitoring
of project activities in the sub-counties. Work with the District Project
Coordinators to ensure an integral approach during implementation of project
interventions.

·       
Oversee
technical issues related to health, education and economic strengthening,
including Case Management within the sub-counties of operation

·       
Actively
participate/lead organizing periodic meetings at the sub-county levels
including monthly case conferencing, review meetings, SOVCCs and Council.

·       
With
support from DPC, assist in the planning, organizing, and the preparation of
sub-county level periodic work plans and budgets.

·       
Maintain
a central role in implementing the ICYD in the sub-county, including ensuring
project sub-county targets are met, as well as identifying and developing new
initiatives that strengthen and deepen programming.

·       
Participate
in CBT, DBT and PSW activities including attending group-based activities and
Household visits.

·       
Coordinate
timely development and submission of project periodic reports.

·       
Work
with community structures to profile and enroll beneficiaries for the project
in accordance with the enrolment criteria

·       
Builds
good working relation with the sub county stakeholders including facilities and
sub county leadership

·       
Any
other duties assigned by the supervisor

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The ideal candidate must hold a diploma in Social work, Development Studies,
Education, Community Psychology or related field. A Bachelor’s degree in the
relevant fields indicated is an added advantage

·       
One year
of experience in working with Child protection focused projects and OVC
programming.

·       
Experience
with implementing OVC interventions, knowledge of HIV/AIDS service delivery
among positive caregivers and children

·       
Training
in Child Protection, Project Planning & Management and Counselling will be
an added advantage

Fluency
in the Knowledge of the local language

in oral and written English and Good writing skills

·       
Must be
skilled in riding a motorcycle and with a valid riding permit
