About US:

Barefoot Law is a Non-Profit, multiple award winning Social enterprise
dedicated in using Information Technology towards improving access to justice
and the Law. This initiative is fully funded and run by the volunteers involved
in it. The objects of this Initiative is to provide Free Legal consultations
and services, develop information technology and Social Media solutions to help
in breaking CURRENT bottlenecks currently faced in the Justice, Law and Order
Sector especially Access to Justice. In doing so, BarefootLaw uses modern and
low cost tools of Information Technology, especially Social Media to carry out
free community legal education initiatives, and probono community engagements
throughout Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  We are
looking for a young, innovative, critical-thinking and proactive lawyer who is
passionate about social change and justice and really just wants to make the
world a better place!

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Interpreting
and applying the law to help people resolve their legal problems

·       
Conducting
in depth research to produce quality legal information for the public

·       
Conducting
public legal education sessions to enable communities understand the basics of
the law

·       
Thinking
outside the box on methods of improving and evolving the law into the next era

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold an LLB and Dip. LP

·       
Knowledge
and experience using Microsoft Office and other online tools (expect to take a
computing test)

·       
Able to
work remotely from home, work in the field and travel often

·       
Beneficiary-centred
approach: courteous, respect for diversity, tolerance, and service-mentality

·       
Excellent
research skills (demonstrated by provision of samples; preferably published)

·       
Super
passionate

·       
Dedicated
to personal development
