Job Summary:  The Community Livelihood/Environmental Officer
will mainly coordinate with the UNHCR Environment Protection and Production
Units and Local Government to ensure that all the activities in the project are
delivered in a timely manner and with the desired level of quality.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Be
directly responsible for the implementation of project activities which
include:

·       
Mobilize
and sensitize community leaders, SMCs, PTAs, village and settlement leaders on
project activities

·       
Under
the direction and supervision of the Project Coordinator, carry out community
mobilization and sensitization about the activities of the project activities
in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders including OPM, UNHCR and Local
Government leadership structures, Partner NGOs and Community/Refugee leadership
structures

·       
Mobilize
support formation of Bonga Groups

·       
Sensitizes
and train Bonga groups in livelihood, saving and investment opportunities

·       
Mobilize
and sensitize youth to join non-formal vocational training

·       
Train
target schools and host community in community environmental protection,
livelihood/Agronomy activities

·       
Train
and distribute tree seedlings to households, schools and surrounding host
communities

·       
Guide
targeted schools in planting and maintaining of wood lots

·       
Supervise,
train and monitor construction of household energy-saving stoves

·       
Ensure
that school committees comprising of Parents and Teachers are trained and
actively promote environmental protection activities in the schools and
community

·       
Attend
sector meetings and other stakeholders’ meetings in the operation as shall be
assigned by Environment protection officer

·       
Provide
on-farm technical support to beneficiary schools and communities

·       
Coordinate
with the Environment Protection and production units at UN and local government
to ensure that all the activities in the project are delivered in a timely
manner and with the desired level of quality

·       
Maintain
well organized and up-to-date files containing comprehensive records of all
activities of the project, as well as a file containing your work plans,
activity reports, and any other relevant information relating to your work

·       
Make
weekly/bi-weekly cluster reports and share them with the Project Manager,
Sector working groups, OPM, UNHCR, District Local government and other
stakeholders as shall be deemed necessary

·       
In
compliance with ADRA Uganda’s M&E system, compile and submit to your
immediate supervisor, monthly narrative and financial reports of all activities
under your responsibility

·       
Follow
up, compile and submit to ADRA Uganda Case stories and pictures and video clips
that demonstrate project impact; and document and submit to ADRA Uganda best
practices that have been realized during project implementation

·       
Maintain
well organized and up-to-date files containing comprehensive records of all
activities of the project, as well as a file containing your work plans,
activity reports, and any other relevant information relating to your work

·       
Perform
any other duties that are incidental thereto and as may be assigned

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate must hold a degree in a relevant field, preferably in
Development Studies, Economy or Socio-Economic Development, Business
Administration, Entrepreneurship

·       
At least
three years of experience required in working as a livelihoods officer

·       
Extent
and relevance of experience in liaising with governments, multilateral and
bilateral development agencies, civil society and communities

·       
Excellent
communication skills both orally and in writing

·       
Excellent
data analysis and reporting skills

·       
Prior
work experience in Bidibidi, is an advantage

·       
Possess
computer/word processing skills and should be capable of working with people of
different national and cultural backgrounds
