Following a peace agreement in 2006, Ugandans are returning home and looking to
rebuild their lives. The IRC is there to protect women and children from
violence and exploitation by fostering a safe environment and encouraging
education, and is supporting farmers and small businesses, and helping
communities promote peace and long-term development.

 

Job Summary:   The IKEA/Re:Build
Qualitative Assessment Enumerator will work in close cooperation with the Lead
Enumerator to carry out a qualitative assessment work – focus group discussions
(FGDs) and key informant interviews (KIIs) for THREE (3) days, including ONE
(1) day of training and tool testing. 
Together with the RE:BUILD Team, the enumerators will test, coordinate,
and ensure the timeliness and quality implementation of the Gender analysis
targeting at least 48 participants in FGDs and (KIIs).

 

The data collected in the survey under the guidance of the lead
consultant and IRC’s Gender Equality Advisor for East Africa will capture the
clients’ perspectives during RE:BUILD inception phase in Kampala and help
inform program design, and serve as a baseline.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  As an enumerator, your tasks, duties and
responsibilities will be to:

Interact
with refugees and community members in Kampala with the highest level of
professionalism and respect

·       
Explain
the study rationale comprehensively and answer questions from the public about
the study

·       
Recruit
participants to take part in the study

·       
Seek and
obtain informed consent from study participants

·       
Interview
participants using study tools

·       
Collect
data under the guidance of the lead enumerator using tablets for the survey,
and detailed notes/and recordings where possible for the qualitative component

·       
Synchronize
the collected data into the server every evening and submit the tablets to IRC
staff every evening – the tablets will be distributed to the enumerators every
morning during the entire period that the exercise will take place

·       
Complete
daily scheduled activities and all tasks assigned by the team leader in a
timely manner

·       
Position
may involve extensive day travel and walking in the communities

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) IKEA/Re:Build
Qualitative Assessment Enumerator job placement must hold a Diploma or
equivalent from a recognized institution

·       
Other
qualifications in M & E shall be an added advantage

·       
Ability
to manage own workload and deliver to deadlines

·       
Ability
to work independently and be confident in addressing a crowd

·       
Experience
working with tablets and computers for data entry

·       
Experience
administering surveys and/or conducting interviews

·       
Previous
research work experience is an advantage

·       
Strong
organizational skills, ability to take responsibility and prioritize
efficiently

·       
Strong
attention to detail

·       
Ability
to enhance good interpersonal relationship.

·       
A good
command of both written and spoken English. Knowledge of Luganda, Swahilli,
Somali, Lingala and/ or Amarik will be an advantage.

Excellent
organizational skills

Works
both independently and collaboratively with team members to achieve results.

·       
Relates
and works well with people of different cultures, gender and backgrounds.

·       
Flexibility
and prepared to work additional hours
