About US:

Communication for
Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) is a non-governmental organization that
implements Development Communication programs aimed at influencing positive
behavior change for the social development of men, women and children in Uganda
and the entire East African Region. CDFU is a partner in the Nuyok program led
by Catholic Relief Services (CRS). The Nuyok program builds resilience to
shocks, enhances livelihoods and improves food security and nutrition for
vulnerable rural families in three districts of Karamoja: Abim, Nakapiripirit
and Napak which are home to 406,880 people living in an estimated 58,126
households.

 

Job Summary:  The Project Coordinator will provide SBCC
support to program activities including work plans; accounting and reporting;
providing technical assistance to district based partners and capacity building
in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) at national and district
levels.

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

·        
Coordinate
SBCC activities in the project districts including meetings with district
officials and community level stakeholders; oversee implementation of district
level based activities;

·        
Work
closely with the district based staff to implement SBCC and community
mobilization activities;

·        
Adapt,
manage translation, and coordinate pre-test & dissemination of Information,
Education and Communication (IEC) materials promoting the program
interventions.

·        
Collaborate
with the M&E department of the project to design monitoring and evaluation
tools for tracking implementation of SBCC activities in the districts;

·        
Provide
support and supervise work of the SBCC officers based in the Nuyok districts of
implementation;

·        
Work
with the districts to identify and establish partnerships with the community
based service organization that will implement activities in line with the
project’s areas of focus;

·        
Support
monitoring and evaluation of mass media and interpersonal communication interventions
in the project districts.

·        
The
coordinator will also support documentation of project activities/impact
stories;

·        
Prepare
SBCC monthly, quarterly and annual reports and participate in Project
Management meetings as necessary.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The ideal
candidate must hold a Master’s Degree in Communication, Health, Social
Sciences, Population or a related field.

·        
At least
five years of experience in implementing Social & Behavior Change
Communication (SBCC) interventions.

·        
Demonstrate
knowledgeable practice of working with districts, non-governmental and
community-based organizations as well as government departments.

·        
Must
have experience working at the community and district levels to implement SBCC
interventions.

·        
Excellent
interpersonal & communication skills and ability to work as a team player.

·        
Good
presentation and writing skills.

·        
Computer
skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

·        
Good
skills in use of digital tools and social media.
