About US:

The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is a
government agency established in 1990 by an Act of parliament (CAP 209). The
UNCST under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MoSIT) is
mandated to develop and implement strategies for integrating Science and
Technology (S&T) into the national development process.

 

Job Summary:   The Senior
Science Officer (Grants Management) will provide leadership and facilitate the
implementation of joint inter-institutional and international research grants
programs

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  

·        
Provide
leadership and technical guidance in the management of competitive research and
product development grants to scientists/researchers and innovators;

·        
Build
synergies with international research granting schemes such as the Science
Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI) among others;

·        
Facilitate
implementation of the joint inter-institutional and international research
grant programs;

·        
Develop
research grant programs, identify funding for their implementation and manage
the necessary agreements;

·        
Develop
and deliver a training curriculum in proposal writing, entrepreneurship and
business plan development for the grantees;

·        
Conduct
technical supervision visits to the Projects;

·        
Participate
in mobilizing resources for the institution;

·        
Perform
any other UNCST tasks as necessary and as may be assigned.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·        
The
applicant must hold a Master’s degree in either Business Administration or
Business Computing or a closely related field;

·        
A
Bachelor’s degree in biological or natural sciences;

·        
Qualifications
with proven experience in Project Management or Grants Management;

·        
At least
6 years of experience in a similar field,

·        
High
level of confidence in relating with S&T stakeholders;

·        
Ability
to work independently and as part of a team;

·        
Excellent
planning, budgeting, and reporting skills;

·        
Age: not
more than 40 years.
